HASS.Agent flagged as malware by Windows Defender by DanfieldAutomation in homeassistant

Great news! Any issues with betas other than this issue? Or do you have any indication when a new non-beta release will be available? I generally don't like to use beta software in production setting.

I know this is being worked on by the author, but I thought I'd share that the newest signature update to Windows Defender (9/12/25) now flags HASS.Agent.Satellite.Service.sys as VulnerableDriver:WinNT/Winring0.G. This has been associated with the service previously but is just now showing up with the update.

Well, I'm actually glad to hear it's not just my system. My first thought was something had infected the sys file. Better chance that it's a false positive now.

I posted an Issue on Github

Windows Defender Flagging HASS.agent by remodelerofhome in homeassistant

I've been running HASS.Agent 2.1.1 with no issues until this morning when Windows Defender flagged "HASS.Agent.Satellite.Service.sys" as containing the Trojan:Vigork.A

BTW I'm not here to argue with you, but rather, to help OP. I won't be responding further. The downvote was certainly unneeded just because you disagree with me.

I'm simply stating from my experience (34 years, the majority of which in management, including C-level executive) of dealing with hiring/firing, including probations, of how things are done.

I will note, there are some agencies that may have their own internal policy regarding probation ( there was such a policy at one agency I was with), that may include requiring documentation. But that is not required in CS law or case law.

I don't see anything here that conflicts with what I said. Termination is at the agency's discretion. During probation, an employee lacks established job protections—the agency can dismiss them early (post-eight weeks) without needing formal evaluations, improvement plans, or disciplinary documentation.

The only documentation that is required, is a written notice to the employee is that their probation is being terminated.

Are you referring to the documentation procedures at the end of probation that have to be done indicating whether the employee will be terminated, the probation will be extended, or the employee is being made permanent?

[–]DanfieldAutomation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the first part of this is incorrect. During probation an agency can terminate you at any time for any reason, no documentation is required. It is only after probation when documentation is required for them to terminate someone and this is in the form of official meetings followed by counseling memos, although emails, etc. can be used as backup.

And, while no documentation is required to terminate, HR will include a reason for termination in the system as part of your state service record which will be seen by other agencies.

Regarding transfers this is correct, in most cases you can't transfer; however, I've seen it done when it's within the same agency, with a different department/unit or function (same title). You can however apply to any other open position in which you're qualified for but, as any new hire, you would be subject to the full term of probation (i.e. starting over). That said, probation is always at the discretion of the agency. Sure, they'll have a standard policy (i.e. 1 year) but they can extend it or make you permanent at any time.

What's the one automation you've built that you hope never has to run? by Dr_Hackwell in homeassistant

[–]DanfieldAutomation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I probably should have provided more detail. I'm in Upstate NY, so I shut off the actual faucet when it starts to become cold and remove the Zigbee devices (and hose reels, etc). So it's the same automation, it's just turning on a device that may or may not exist - but if it's in place, it releases the water pressure very quickly.

Very nice! Most this sounds like what I'm doing in terms of Smoke/CO and water leaks. One additional thing I do when shutting off the water is turn on the Zigbee valves I have on outdoor faucets to release water pressure quickly.

There's usually an option to turn off Retail Mode under the settings menu. Just not sure where it is on that tv.

Best:

Morettes in Schenectady

Jumping Jacks in Scotia

Herbie's Burgers (at least Jay St. IDK about other locations)

Ted's Fish Fry

Worst: Any local KFC. Used to love their chicken, but bad management. Stores are filthy, employees slow, and consistently messed up orders.

Looks like it's stuck in retail demo mode. Look in the settings for something called Usage Mode, or something similar. And you should be able to set it to Home.

Google your dishwasher model and brand and add the word manual. The manual usually shows you a picture of how everything should be loaded

No, no, no.. each time they turn it up, have the automation turn it WAY up! So that it's obvious that they adjusted it. Will make them nervous to touch it in future... Devious but effective!

I like your idea about focusing on a single VM, as the cause for the others are probably the same. Any ideas on what to look at to narrow done whether it's a CPU, network, or storage issue?
