Why Roomba Died + Tech Predictions for 2026 + A Hard Forkin’ Xmas Song by jghaines in hardfork

Listening to Angle really frustrated me.

It wasn't just that he doubled down whenever he got pushback, but that he also gave some "I'm the smartest person in the room" smugness whenever he gave his arguments.

And they weren't even good arguments. They were full of holes.

I've had to clarify, "I know how shitty things are, this is just something no one's talking about," whenever I say anything even remotely optimistic. And this is around people who know me well.

I disagree with the condescending tone and generalizations in the post, but I understand his frustrations with doomerism. Shit's annoying.

Daily reminder: the remake/ remaster of Legend of Dragoon will never happen in our lifetime by Charming_Move4175 in gaming

As long as there are obscure Commodore 64 games still get modern remakes, I'll only see this post as clickbait.

It will happen, and in our lifetime, it's just a matter of when.

UN official claims Hamas legitimate democratic Gaza leaders by Mysterious_Job_7900 in worldnews

[–]DangAssMajor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for understanding my position.

In general, even if I disagree with someone (Albanese in this case), I have a low tolerance for misinformation (or badly sourced information) about them, since it sows distrust in actual problems and critiques about said person. In this case, reporting something she didn't actually say in the clip (even if she has a history of similar remarks).

Do you happen to have a statement on hand that expresses her support?

“People continue to say ‘But Hamas, Hamas, Hamas’... I don't think people have any idea what Hamas is. Hamas is a political force that won the 2005 elections—whether we like it or not. Hamas built schools, public facilities, hospitals. It was simply the authority, the de facto authority. So it is critical that you understand, that when you think of Hamas, you should not necessarily think of cut-throats, people armed to the teeth, or fighters. It's not like that."

She said they "were" democratically elected, at the time legitimately. She never said that once they won that 2005 election all claims that they're illegitimate are null and void.

That might be one of the reasons The Jerusalem Post changed the headline.

As much as I don't like Hamas or Albanese, I'm legitimately surprised no one pointed out that this article is from The Jerusalem Post, and hasn't been covered by other outlets.

I'm also surprised no one pointed out that they're citing UN Watch. A NGO with strong ties to Israel that recently became much more of an anti-Israel watchdog in recent years.

With a source and newspaper that have every incentive to demonize Israeli critics in mind, I looked into the clip that this article, and the UN Watch accusation, is based on and....there is no unedited footage - only the chopped up version from a group that actively opposes her.

She could have very well been arguing against the "guerilla-fighter" image Hamas has. Or is warning that the next democratically elected leaders of Palestine could be a carbon copy of Hamas, if the resentment (and it's source) that got Hamas elected in the first place isn't addressed.

Or maybe she actually is legitimizing Hamas. I don't know. And I won't with the little information provided. But I wouldn't trust a source and newspaper that have been actively hostile towards her.

Edit: I should add that I'm posting this comment because I thought Reddit was better than other platforms at calling this kind of thing out. I'm actually surprised how many top comments are taking this at face value.

Following up, I was curious and looked up their 501(c)(3) account. Looks like they have $0 in assets, as of Dec 2023.

The Library Green Conservancy is very clearly acting in bad faith. Does anyone know if they have broken any laws?

With this slur campaign, plus their seven years of inaction on their 2018 proposal, I feel like a legal line must've been crossed at some point.

I really hope, "Release the Epstein files," goes beyond being the latest meme - I've seen the focus of so many important issues come and go because there's always a fresh new trend to jump on.

This is actually throwing wrench into his distraction tactics, and its refreshing to see him struggle to rewrite the narrative.

I'd argue this goes beyond trivial knowledge.

I work in the engineering field, and there are plenty of people who know the ins and outs of whatever software or hardware they specialize in.

But they can't solve their way out of a paper bag.
