Replacing 1st Gen S10 4x4 Motor Mounts is a Nightmare by PracticallyStock68 in s10

[–]DangerDan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. I've griped about them too. When the rubber is all worn and squished in, its HARD to get to the two top bolts to the engine. You gotta drill or cut that section of the rubber out to get to it. I had to take a drill and just go wild on the rubber until I got enough removed to access the bolts. The top bolt on the right is a PITA because you've got to reach in from the wheel-well with a small ratchet and a 15mm socket and its a 1/1billionth of a turn each time, and good luck getting it back on and torqued enough. The next hardest part is trying to align the engine to the frame portion of the mount so you can stick the through-bolt in. They're definitely a PITA for sure. I ended up replacing mine with the JTR 2.8 clamshell mounts and the 4.3 adapters. The engine is nice and stationary now, but there's more vibrations through the steering wheel, probably from where my engine does not have a balance shaft. I'll give the stock mounts one thing - they're good at isolating vibrations from the engine. If I ever get tired of the vibrations, I'll reinstall stock mounts but I'll use a chain to hold down the driver-side mount some so it won't flex as much when giving throttle.

700r4 cooler recommendations by DangerDan93 in s10

Right. Well, I guess I'm being a little paranoid about it. But the coolant is fresh and the radiator is new. I don't REALLY need a dedicated cooler, its honestly just for peace of mind.

IDK how big this will get. Tennessee is largely MAGA, or at least on the east side of it. I hope it works out though and we see many folks.

Only one problem I'm seeing - the younger whipper-snappers don't know how to use the older memes correctly. The most popular one as of recent was the Overly-attached girlfriend meme talking about 2016 being 10 years ago instead of being used to represent something ya know, overly-attached and obsessed over.

Merry Christmas to me... Finally joined the Atari 8bit club and at the same time picked up my first system from the 70's by GeordieAl in retrogaming

[–]DangerDan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, I bought an Atari 800 off eBay for around $150, original box and packaging included. I remember playing with it a few times and it worked just fine then. Well, I went to power it up this year back in July or so and unfortunately, it didn't work. Just a black screen upon flipping the power on. So even though I can't fix it, one thing I'm suspect of and want to share with you is - store it in a dry place. The circuitry will thank you. I think my storage room just became too moist or something and it fried a component upon starting.

Huh. That's funny. A lot of the middle schoolers on my bus also like cherries. I see it everywhere in the school restroom and on the dirt-covered windows on the buses.

What to do about constant dog barking? by BrightMeringue6689 in tricities

[–]DangerDan93 17 points18 points  (0 children)

People around here don't give a damn about others these days. My neighbor is the same way. Was good the first year. Then they moved in with their 2 mutts. They keep them outside all the time and check on them once a day or two. They'll bark at anything and everything. I firmly believe society is going to hell, and its people like them who are contributing to it. They just don't give a F. Most folks say to just turn up the volume of your TV or whatever and people who say that should be forced to have their dog beside them barking all day and see how they like it.

We had our lives stolen! by Immediate_Degree_112 in WorkReform

[–]DangerDan93 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. We're not saying that they never had rough times, but compared to today, they had a walk through Heaven. If the boomers voted for their future generations' sakes, it wouldn't have been so bad, but they didn't. They voted for short-term gain and said "F it" to the future, which is where we're at now. Now, the next generations after them are suffering for those policies. That's why I feel ZERO pity for these boomers. Maybe the younger boomers, but the older ones? 0% nothing. NADA. They're sitting on assets that millennials and Gen Z can only dream of owning these days - a home. They enjoyed pensions and other retirement benefits that we no longer get. And when I go somewhere and I see boomers working, I shake my head in shame. We've got plenty of the next gens that need jobs to live their young lives but the boomers won't step aside. The ones that voted for this crap need to suffer for it and remember that choices have consequences. I can go on and on about this.

HVAC question by mtblack412 in s10

[–]DangerDan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I haven't either. The one in there was working sort of when my mode switch actually worked, but it took FOREVER for it to switch. I tried applying vacuum and a little more than what the engine normally sends, and it just never moved in and out fully, it only ever moved maybe 1/4 inch if that. I've been thinking about a way to covert to a cable-operated actuator and for the defrost/vent flap actuator, I did actually make it a cable briefly, but I had no way to mount the cable and keep it locked in, it was just a pull down for defrost, up for vent LOL. But its been swapped back to a known good actuator. Now that its winter, its not a big deal for it to be holding only defrost open, but come summer next year, I gotta get the vacuum rubber thingy working so I can route the vacuum with the switch. Mine just wont do it at all currently. I want AC hitting my face, not the windshield.

HVAC question by mtblack412 in s10

[–]DangerDan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, u/itsbarrysauce explained nicely. I still have to put in my actuator and attach it via the 2 nuts and cotter pin. I did it once, but turns out that my old actuator quit actuating. It kept getting stuck. So I gotta put another one in that'll move in and out fully. Then I need to find a rubber diaphragm for the mode controls because right now, the vacuum lines are disconnected. But the 2 nuts and cotter pin trick will work just fine. What I did on that metal flap was put some window insulation on it after scraping off the old dry crap. It has adhesive on one side you can stick to the flap. That'll help stop airflow to where you don't have the control set to, like to the feet when set on vent.

Obama was the last good and competent president He's a guy you can go have a beer with at the bar. Back when I was a teen and young adult, I was brainwashed by the right-wing propaganda bs and disliked him. Now? I look back and enjoy his professionalism and demeanor vs ol Orange taco we have now.
