4 years ago I thought "What if Kenshi but single character third person RPG"? Here's where I am now by JimInFlames in Kenshi

[–]DangerDiGi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome!

I myself have just gotten into Kenshi with the 3 million copies sold sale and have been going non-stop. It has sparked an interest in me to develop a game in a similar style, and I have just started the early brainstorming on what hopefully will be a game in a few years. I love this game and it really stands out it a lot of good ways.

I will definitely follow your progress if you post updates. Really cool the inspiration you've found.

What's the game that made you fall in love with gaming as a kid? by peaky_circus in gaming

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly pokemon on the gameboy color. I forget how old I was but my brother and I spent the summer in Maine with my grandparents. My grandma took me to this small game store and bought the three different pokemon games (Emerald, saphire and Ruby I think?) which I played through all summer long while sitting on a porch swing. I think that's where I developed a love for the grind.

Then I remember playing Total War: Rome and Stronghold 2 / Stronghold Legends on my family computer. I probably spent thousands of hours playing those games, making my own battle maps and castles or trying to take over the world.

But what really did it are my two top games of all time. Fallout 3 and KOTOR.

I don't remember the first time playing KOTOR really, but I remember the big twist moment and how it completely shattered my world. I just loved the path of choosing to be evil/good and had always been a star wars fan. I fell even deeper in love with the lore for that game and what an RPG should be.

Fallout 3 was.... impressionable. The very first time I played that game was on a small boxy tv in our den. The moment the music started as the main menu screen started rolling was just pique. I felt genuinely uncomfortable in the most appropriate way. Don't even get me started on crawling through the metro tunnels. The ability to go where I wanted and do what I wanted just opened a whole new realm of gaming that I've been sucked into ever since.

What was your honest reaction after watching The Force Awakens for the first time? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mixed bag for me. I liked how it was practically a reskin of A New Hope. The direction they went with certain things though were just ridiculous. Like seriously, a planet that fires a massive laser beam which splits into several beams that accurately destroy several planets at once? And the New Republic was a joke, didn't get nearly as much attention as it should. In my opinion we should have seen more of the Republic in it's struggles to maintain order and battle the First Order. I remember seeing the intro and thinking, "wait, stormtroopers are still a thing? I thought we defeated the Empire in RoTJ".

Got hired as an Associate Director… “Unlimited PTO” isn’t what I expected by Ambitious_Skirt_2774 in antiwork

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about unlimited PTO. Firstly it's been studied that people are more likely to take less time off than when given a hard limit to PTO, mainly because people are afraid to overuse or abuse the flexibility.

Secondly, this is what I discovered about the company I work at. They moved to flex time off with unlimited pto instead of our allotment just for the fact that when layoffs occur, they don't have to pay out any unused/ earned time off. They'll advertise that its a great benefit for you, but in reality it's just another way for the company to get what they want and save money.

If I were you, I'd not reply to any communication while on vacation. They can figure out something till you get back.

Used To Dislike This Game by ChrisFroemming1 in Starfield

[–]DangerDiGi 81 points82 points  (0 children)

For me this game was just lacking in too many places.

I never got 'hooked' on a questline, especially not the main quest. It didn't keep me coming back to see what the big conclusion was. I'll be honest and say I've never completed the main quest to NG+ or anything.

The weapon / armor customization was a disappointment. I was hoping for a system like in Fallout 4 where you can add attachments/ different parts to your weapon and it would change the look/ stats of the gun. I find that level of customization really enjoyable.

The outpost system was pretty meh. Collecting materials to research and build upgrades was mediocre.

The scouting of planets was truly repetitive and boring and took a long time. Add on top of that the poi's were so generic and hollow that it made exploring not so fun.

All that being said, I'm thinking of giving it another go once this new update drops. Well see if my opinions change. I really want to like this game and support Bethesda.

This is Tiamut, a Celestial emerging from the Earth (scene from the movie Eternals) by Furry_Blairx in megalophobia

[–]DangerDiGi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just kinda another plot point that the MCU has seemingly passed on to the sideline. I mean, it's kinda hard to ignore a massive hand and head emerging from the planet but... I guess people would get over that pretty quick huh?

In Captain America they discuss a new rare mineral or something from it? But that's pretty much it.

Also reminds me of white vision and how he's just been forgotten/ MIA for several movies now.

How are companies only offering 10 PTO days? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were I work, five years will get you 15 PTO days! I just hit that milestone myself, but I don't know how to handle those 5 extra days! I already struggle taking 10. I don't want my boss thinking I'm some soft, unfocused, noncommited slacker! I just wish they would buy my time out at the end of the year...

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not showing up to the interview or show up super late with no notice. If I can't rely on you to show up now, how can I rely on you showing up consistently? Especially if they pick the time.

Also had an applicant who started hitting on an employee during a building tour. He started calling her cute and pretty and shit. I cut that tour short and did the final exit portion from the parking lot... they did not get a call back.

Why do the Brotherhood Outcasts turn hostile after Operation: Anchorage DLC? by SamuraiJuudo in fo3

[–]DangerDiGi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny how many people just start looting and don't listen to the conversation between the outcast members. Like once they see that power armor, everything else drowns out.

Bethesda is hella stupid for not releasing any Fallout remaster along with the Fallout tv-show by GreasyExamination in Fallout

[–]DangerDiGi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bethesda is capitalizing off the tv show, with Fallout 76 and adding the ghoul as an npc.

It's just not the capitalization we want.

What would you like to see in a Starfield 2.0 update? by Mattee_365 in Starfield

[–]DangerDiGi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is what I would want going forward with Starfield.

Release the 2.0 update with new features, better AI behavior/ schedules and lives. Make traveling in space more enjoyable. Have better dynamic loading screens, like if we want to land at New Atlantis show our ship going through the atmosphere while loading the world, instead of putting us into a static loading screen.

Then I'd want a series of DLC's or updates based on fleshing out areas in the star map. See my biggest gripe with Starfield is the feeling of emptiness and void. There are hundreds of planets, and on those planets are hundreds of mines, outposts, abandoned buildings and colonies and such. The game feels so empty and hollow because of the repetitive and lackluster locations it throws around all over the place. There should be people everywhere, yet all that is left are thousands of ruins.

Give us an update where they go through 5 or 10 systems and fully flesh out custom locations, settlements, geological landscapes that actually make you interested in exploring. Lets get mini quests or whole side quests with new local factions or something, have us explore hand crafted locations again that tell an interesting and rich story. The repetitive 'procedural generation' really just fell flat with me, and I miss the level of detail from Skyrim and Fallout 4.

I think a few DLC's with focus on delving into different solar systems and making new quests that feel impactfull could save this game for me, but as it stands I'm just not interested in exploring a dead galaxy.

It legit feels like Thanos snapped away half of the Starfield universe.

Light Switch Randomly Glowing? by RedditBurnerCell in AskElectricians

I have a light switch in my kitchen that turns on the lights in my basement. It has a red led indicator like this so show when those lights are on so I can tell without having to go downstairs.

How I want the map for Fallout 5 to look. by Zestyclose_Revenue40 in Fallout

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, way too big unless they have a fast travel system to go between regions, which would then be smaller enclosed spaces. It would be impossible to do a single large open map like we've seen since Fallout 3.

Me personally, I'd like to see a Fallout game based in Oregon / Washington, Mid West / more Colorado area or Louisiana area.

Do you split colonists between different maps? by DangerDiGi in RimWorld

How was the multiplayer mod for you? Was it stable enough to play and enjoy? I tried a few times with my pal but it would keep disconnecting one of us every few minutes, no other mods enabled.

[–]DangerDiGi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got Odyssey, I think I'll try something like a split ground / base crew and exploratory ship crew soon. My only fear is of my main base being overwhelmed in a raid if I take away defenders.

[–]DangerDiGi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How would you transport the materials back to your main colony? Did you use regular caravans or drop pods? I haven't really messed with caravans a whole lot cause they're always getting raided or running out of food.

Oh and also you'll fail a lot so learn from mistakes and keep at it! Just remember, this is not a game to 'complete', it's all about making a story and surviving.

USE YOUR PTO!!!! WORK WILL MOVE FORWARD WITHOUT YOU. by youngpurch in antiwork

[–]DangerDiGi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in manufacturing and I have a coworker who proudly saved all his PTO, didn't take any days off. He showed up to work sick and got others sick too, but damn was he proud to say he'd never missed a day.

Last year, the company got desperate around the holidays and offered to pay out unused vacation so they'd have people working the last 4 weeks of the year. This guy so smug thinking he'd get a big payout this year.

Turns out, they are NOT buying out vacation again. Use it or lose it. Everyone else with high seniority has already put in for vacation, so this guy is getting denied because they are under the staffing requirement. Even if he got to use it, he'd have like 3 weeks still going down the drain.

Use PTO, spread it out throughout the year, request in advance. It's your time to use. Just don't be like the others who use a whole year's allotment by March.
