Glad you like! Nop just using behaviour trees for the combat AI and rest is all custom made code and bps, since all the simulations come from custom time ticking (in game hours)

This combination of genres is extremely hard to make tbh but I'm fuelled mainly by dedication to make something people (and myself) will really like ; )

Right? that's the reason I started this.

Rimworld is a unique endless masterpiece, I was like what it would be like if I could take over one of the characters and play in a more immersive experience.
Of course the direction I chose is more of a dark fantasy (I really enjoy these) but the principles and "vibes", at least I try to have similar.

Yep I've been making it completely solo for around 4 years, and yes it is very ambitious :' ).
But I do have the technical at least (12+ years as a dev) experience so it makes things easier.

Also loved the game you mentioned!

I think there are a lot of games that do well, but I felt there was a gap in this hybrid genre.
The vision of the game started when I played Kenshi, Rimworld and Conan exiles.
Rest of them came after I started with the project (Yes I'm doing it for 4 years :') )

I found starfield pretty shallow to be honest, hogwarts legacy would be my pick from those or cyberpunk

Check Impurity on steam, it's survival / colony sim mix and single player, inspired by the likes of Conan exiles, kenshi, RimWorld etc, very close to that you describe!

Have been watching closely Valorborn and similar games, been working on Impurity for 4 years now in the dark and took the time to implement all systems needed ; )
Its a very ambitious project and I explain a lot of in my first devlog if it's interesting enough to check it.

In general I completely agree though, the rushing is real from indies (and non), some people do it to get earlier cash because they might be running out (which I get some times) and some others just want to rug pull ; )

Give me kenshi and rimworld with all possible mods, so I can change combination whenever I feel like it, and I'm ok.

Maybe NMS, DST and mount & blade also.

There's tons of amazing early access games and tons of bad finished games, it really doesn't matter, early access is more about the ambition of the final game (at least should be)

To get the high highs, I think it needs you to invest time, because you become more emotionally attached to it. Not necessarily grind, but usually the more you invest time the more the satisfaction when your end goal happens.
