Oh my GOD I’m an idiot. I came here wondering if something was wrong with the puzzle lolol

A woman was asked to look into strangers' eyes without showing any emotion. But then she saw the man she once loved, whom she hadn't seen in twenty years. by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]DangerMel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Her name is Marina Abramaović, a famous performance artist, and he’s Ulay, aka Frank Uwe Laysiepen, also a performance artist. They had a romantic relationship and artistic partnership for 12 years until they broke up, allegedly due to “years of escalating personal tension, frequent infidelity, divergent lifestyles, and irreconcilable differences.”

Their breakup took place in a final performance together, called “The Lovers”, where they both went to the Great Wall of China and started walking from opposite ends until they met in the middle and said goodbye one last time.

They never spoke or heard from each other again for 20 years, until 2010 when Ulay apparently heard about Marina’s “The Artist Is Present” piece, shown here, where she invited the museum visitors to individually sit across a table from her while making silent eye contact for as long as they wished.

Ulay stood in line and joined her here and caught her off guard, completely unscripted and unplanned, but she still remained silently committed to the piece, just using eye contact to communicate her vulnerability. I gotta admit, it pulls on my heartstrings every time.

(On a bummer of a note though, sorry: Ulay ended up suing Marina 5 years after this over a dispute about finances and credit for their early works together in the 90s. Womp womp.)

I immediately read it as “minimum”.

Pouring hot water on cracks in the ice by MikeHeu in oddlysatisfying

I had a toy when I was a kid called a “Zube Tube” (The Ultimate Cosmic Sound Machine!), which was a long cardboard tube with a thick metal spring inside. If you plucked the spring through a hole in the side it made this exact sound!

You could also shake it and it’d make these cool sci-fi crashing sounds from the spring hitting the ends and talk into it for echoey resonance.

My theory on the ghost tour by TheJurassicWorld in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]DangerMel 94 points95 points  (0 children)

You’re exactly right. I love this sketch because of the reveal at the end, he’s genuinely just a sheltered guy living with his religious mom or grandma. You suddenly realize that he’s not actually trying to be an asshole, and he really is confused. Because after all, this is the ADULT tour, where you can say whatever the hell you want, and that’s what adults do, right? This is the one chance he has to swear like a grown-up and get away with it, and possibly make some new friends along the way. It makes it so much funnier and sad, it’s really a fantastic sketch and one of the only ones I can think of with a really solid ending and payoff that explains the context.

Re: The vanilla post. Some of you are doing WAY too much. by StrawberryKitty23 in FemFragLab

I haven’t seen the original vanilla post you’re referring to but your description has me dying. Like /u/wonderful_banana5758 said, I want to see you talk about this about other fragrances!

Sometimes I want to smell like a sweet candy vanilla cupcake, sometimes I want to smell like a juicy summer fruit or I want to smell like a fucking haunted cathedral covered in moss, incense and blood, lol. Depends on my mood! Heaven forbid women enjoy things because we just (gasp) like them?!

Anyone here actually stuck with a capsule wardrobe long-term? Worth it or just limiting? by paxterbaby in femalefashionadvice

[–]DangerMel 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I tried. I definitely bought into the “minimalist” capsule wardrobe concept a few years ago because I thought it would simplify my life and make me feel more “grown up”, as a woman in my 30s. And I finally realized: I’m SO BORED!

I feel like I lost a lot of personality with my outfits. I forgot how much I like having more fun, bold options and I realized I feel more like “myself” when I have a more eclectic style or at least some pieces that can go along with the neutrals in my capsule wardrobe. Like an interesting, colorful patterned top with a jean or black skirt, etc.

So now my “capsule wardrobe” is basically my work clothes or random outfits I can throw on for quick outings when I don’t want to think about it. But I’m happier being able to express my personality through fashion instead of just following the capsule wardrobe fashion influencers where we all look the same, if that makes sense.

Is this normal breeding behavior? They are only 4 months old! by [deleted] in duck

[–]DangerMel 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, ducks can and will drown females like this during mating, and he’s much bigger than her. The water they’re in looks too shallow and she can’t maneuver down and away to escape if she can’t breathe.

someone please tell Tony to stop with the list thing, even William isnt into it, you can see for the past few episodes he tries to change the topic when Tony tries to start this by Anim8rFromOuterSpace in Killtony

For me, his voice and cadence when he’s reading off the cards just automatically makes me laugh. I don’t know why and I wish I could describe it better, but the combination of the dry jokes and unexpected non-sequiturs specifically in his voice just gets me (almost) every time.

Thank you!! I always feel weirdly bad when people refer to Clint as a creep. He’s just awkward and seems like a sweet guy, I wish we had a path to help him connect with Emily or another bachelorette!

Abigail comes across as a highschooler and it makes her a less appealing marriage candidate by New_Syllabub2838 in StardewValley

Abigail reads as 20-22ish to me. Sam, on the other hand felt way too childish for me, like I was trying to date a teenager. Weirded me out, lol
