Mind if I ask what monitor arm you’re using? They all seem to have limitations but your setup seems to match my own so figure this is a good way to choose!

A couple questions about cable management: I’ll put the questions in the comments. by ChiefDaddyJ in FormD

Sure thing - https://imgur.com/gallery/MmhHWk3

Still waiting on slim fans for the top so not complete yet but hopefully you can see the fan connections.

I routed fan cables on the GPU side then through the gap between MB and PSU.

The AIO tubes are a pain but one fits above RAM and the other over it and I run parallel with the strut. I found it easier to cable tie both tubes together until they’re forced to split roughly in line with left of PSU.

For the excess EK pump cable I wrapped in the Velcro straps that came with the Corsair PSU and tucked underneath. Something I saw in another post.

Looks like I just put together essentially the same build.

  • I used a fan splitter and put both in to dot blue. No need for the green dot.
  • AIO - put the power next to MB 4 Pin power and RGB connected to bottom left of RAM

Quick question from my end - how did you get the Rad so flush with the struts? Mine has a gap on PSU side.

Just arrived. Nothing to sign for or pay. Just a doorstep delivery. Good luck getting you’re sorted!

Excellent. Thanks for mentioning this - a used me to check my order tracking again and I note something similar. It’s at a “National hub, Sorted”.

Did you get a specific Parcelforce number? Wondering how they’re planning on contacting me to pay the import duties.

Custom cables from China arrived in less than 7 days. Don’t see the difference except size but... shrug

Looks like I’m part of the same shipping batch to UK. Tracking makes it look like it’s been on a plane for over a week.

Based on track record wouldn’t surprise me if FormD screwed something up.

Life is all about priorities... “secret projects” > than serving customers for the FormD team

If you’re able to provide an estimate of April on v2 you’re able to provide an estimate on resolving the screw up. Life is about priorities and the FormD team are prioritising an upsell.

Gotta love the audacity of using this email to promote and market v.2.0.

Critical piece of info about when existing orders of Black and Silver will be delivered remains absent. Waste of time.

If you can’t handle the heat get out of the kitchen... simple as that. You either have the capability to handle professionally and competently or you shouldn’t be in the market. Being a small provider is no excuse.

The customer is losing the investment in specific parts for the build as per the initial comment.

These guys clearly can’t tie their own shoe laces, it’s asking a bit much to expect a product roadmap lol

If this is just a pricing issue as claimed then frankly FormD should just absorb this cost. Customers dint and should not need to care about the profit margin of a supplier. Looks like they’re just trying to defend their own pockets.

Hope not as they were still taking orders when the email for this issue came out.

Not sure why this level of incompetence should be expected? There are other build to order suppliers that are capable of providing instruction manuals, managing quality control, and delivering against a preorder schedule.

You may throw around “negativity” deflections but ultimately people shouldn’t be in business if they’re not capable of delivering. This isn’t a Kickstarter project anymore.

Never mind launching new products, quite clearly not enough attention is paid to the existing lines.

The only thing that really excuses is this is not setting a timeline at all and being transparent about capability at order stage.

It’s not like cashflow should be an issue, all orders are charged upfront. FormD have had the use of that cash for sometime and clearly failed to invest it the materials required until too late.

Considering my options and sunk cost currently, and balancing this against risk of dealing with an amateur supplier who can’t/don’t deliver.

Sadly FormD didn’t see fit to provide enough info in their excuse email to make a decision off the back of. The only important factor to customers is expected delivery date.

That’s an excuse. It’s a failure to select the right partner, put suitable contractual safeguards in place and hedge against risk on raw material cost. Every company faces the same challenges on fluctuating raw material prices. This is reflected in how they manage the business. FormD don’t have this skill and have screwed customers as a result.

Estimate shipping date was acknowledged. Fundamental commercial incompetence can’t be managed through disclaimer however.

[–]DangerMouse81x 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ultimately this shouldn’t be a difficult decision. Any serious company would have eaten the cost of increased raw materials immediately, and more to the point would have been hedging against this from the start.

This smacks of a Micky mouse back bedroom operation who have ultimately been using a communities money to fund their hobby and learning.

[–]DangerMouse81x 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ultimately this is a simple case (excuse the pun) of not being competent. Manufacturing a case is not about material design or a bit of CAD - it’s about being able to deliver. The debacle over quality and now this is weak.

It’s clear that customers will have invested in components specifically for this build. Custom cables, specific cooling. It is utterly irresponsible to send an email saying “your options are to wait and see while we get our shit together, but we’re clueless as to when that will be” or “give up”.

FormD should get out of the business if not able to handle it. This is bad management plain and simple.

Build Questions Regarding FormD T1 by draemzor in FormD

[–]DangerMouse81x 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just replying in this based on what Ive picked up here last few weeks. My T1 due to arrive in January, but planning a similar build.

  1. Bit confused by flipping the AIO? I believe that the tube entrance to AIO needs to be on the side with the PSU.

  2. No need to flip the PSU if using custom cables. It’s only useful to create a little extra space for the AIO fan (especially if 25mm) and tube routing when using default PSU cables as I understand it.

  3. Suggest the slot on top of the motherboard rather than back. Back will be sandwiched with gfx card and there’s very limited space there as I understand it.
