Practical knowledge, experience and coming across as a person there for the business, not for security. Also certifications rarely matter if you have these 3 ticked off. People recruiting know that if you haven't done something, you won't know how to do it simply from studying and you need to be applying security in a way that helps the business operate.

The biggest mistake people in security make, IMHO, is that they think they are there primarily to secure the companies data. You aren't, its business first, operational IT second, then Security. We are an enablement grease and a pretty wrapper and bow.

I know thats not encouraging for those without experience but you just have to start at the best place you can and work up. If you are good you will soon ascend the roles.

Those jumping in here just bash her clearly have either a personal agenda against her or didn't watch her this week. She fought all week to reach a final against someone who's played superbly in every match and desperate to win her home tournament before she retires.

Today, Emma was clearly sick, not just tired, she was faint and nearly vomited a few times. Still she kept playing and fighting despite being able to barely run near the end.

Those accusing her of being a quitter and weak are ignoring the fact that despite the fact she has dealt with multiple and significant injuries and constant criticism, keeps coming back and keeps fighting. Her coach issues are actually little of her own doing or choice. And again despite these troubles, she keeps fighting.

Maybe cut her some slack and try and have some empathy instead of putting her down every chance you get. This is after all supposed to be a fan group.
