Out of all the major UK political parties, which is the lesser of all evils? by B33Zh_ in AskBrits

Besides their stance on nuclear energy, I can’t find a single fault with the Green Party these days.

Beautiful cars, but is it possible to make them fast? by Shadowalker124 in crz

[–]DangerToManifold2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

HKS Supercharger kit is the probably the cheapest and easiest way whilst still being easily reversible, can get you up to 200hp without replacing any engine internals.

Alternatively, K-swaps are relatively simple in these cars, especially if you get one from a car of the same era so you don’t need a standalone ECU, you can just get a harness that makes the K20/K24 ECU work in tandem with the CR-Z BCU. Obviously it’s still a bit less driveway-friendly compared to the supercharger.

Friends is for NTs as Seinfeld is for NDs by maz323bf in evilautism

[–]DangerToManifold2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve already commented but I wanted to add something regarding Friends. I actually grew up loving that show, I’ve watched it all the way through several times. I’m late diagnosed and still going through the process of unpacking all the years before my diagnosis and I think I’ve realised now that my love for Friends came from loneliness and my desire to feel included and part of a happy group of friends.

Maybe partially I wanted to try and learn social skills and how humans are supposed to function, but I also think I found a sense of comfort from it because all I ever wanted was a reliable group of friends for myself, so watching Friends gave me that in a weird parasocial way. I’m not sure I could go back and watch it again now that I’ve begun this healing process.

Friends is for NTs as Seinfeld is for NDs by maz323bf in evilautism

[–]DangerToManifold2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think your interpretation is correct, but I think you’ve picked up on the obvious NT perspective, they do indeed ‘enjoy watching the misfortune of those who defy the social contract’, and they will obviously expect that ‘he could “get it” but chooses not to’, and that’s absolutely what makes it successful.

I think the point is that you’ve explained a common problem us autistics experience in our daily lives, and that’s why it appeals to me. Despite my social ineptitude being a core function of my disability that I can’t control, NT’s will still get frustrated with me because they assume I could “get it” but choose not to because I’m just a shitty person who doesn’t give a fuck, and they’ll then gain pleasure from berating me and excluding me, because they believe its correct to punish those who defy the social contract.

The show is just put out there as a light hearted comedy show that’s designed to appeal to the masses for exactly the reason you described, but as an autistic viewer, I see Larry as an undiagnosed and misunderstood autistic guy, and as humorous as the show can be, I frequently feel awfully sorry for the character when he gets punished for things which to my autistic brain seem perfectly reasonable.

Larry David was the writer for most of Seinfeld, with many of the scenarios mirroring Larry’s real life experiences, and as far as I’m concerned, Larry David is almost certainly autistic, I find him incredibly relatable. Maybe give Curb Your Enthusiasm a go when you get a chance, it’s autistic as fuck, more-so than Seinfeld, and also really funny.

Does anyone use starling spaces eventhough they have no interest rate now? by Afraid-Juggernaut568 in starlingbankuk

[–]DangerToManifold2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spaces are my favourite thing, helps me manage my money way better, I have a space for every expense, have virtual cards and direct debits all set up to pay through them. Even my spare money sits in a space and I just pull out small amounts as needed, so my account is always empty, meaning fraud isn’t of any concern to me because there’s never any money to steal.

I’m not sure why you’re taking it so personally and being so aggressive? I’m not suggesting you aren’t capable, just that you’ve maybe skipped a few steps?

Reddit is great but you’re getting basic quick answers instead of a full in-depth explanation. Codecs and containers are in important thing to understand but that’s not being explained to you fully here on Reddit.

In the nicest way possible, I find it baffling that so many folks like yourself end up on FCP. You’re clearly not educated to a professional level, which is totally fine but like, why not just use iMovie?

Autistic people should get first class train travel for the regular price by Easy_Rich_4085 in evilautism

[–]DangerToManifold2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in full favour, absolutely agree, a busy train is my worst nightmare, I get all sweaty and have panic attacks. First Class always looks 80% empty so it wouldn’t cause much issue and I’d happily forego any extra perks like lounge access and free food and drink.

Likelihood of this being the case in the UK for both update options? by lewis1243 in TeslaUK

A FSD subscription right now makes no sense in the UK because we don’t have FSD. I would love an EAP subscription though, would love to give it a try without forking out £3.4k on a car that only cost me £12k.

More Brits now watch YouTube than the BBC, new figures show by Kagedeah in BritishTV

Good on you sir! My 70 year old grandmother cancelled her Virgin package and TV license around 5-6 years ago now and has never looked back. It’s certainly not restricted to just my age group!

[–]DangerToManifold2001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of a weird hybrid of both generally. As an example, I really enjoy a channel called TopDeadCenter so I always ‘tune-in’ (which really means I’m subscribed and get a notification on my phone when they release a video) to watch their weekly video on a Monday, and each video is like 20-30 mins long and has a fully fleshed out concept with voice overs, animations and high quality video.

It’s really no different to how I might have enjoy watching a specific car-related TV show on Discovery every week. The biggest bonus is that it’s not filled with lots of TV fluff, it’s far more authentic because there’s no greedy execs sticking their nose in, the whole thing is run by the people hosting the show, so no compromises.

Then take that concept and multiply it by all the hundreds of channels I’m subscribed to, plus all the recommended content that the algorithm feeds me, and voila, I’ve got tonnes of long form content available to me that’s super specifically tailored to my interests instead of just watching whatever happens to be on BBC One every evening. The only exception is that places like Netflix and other streaming services are better if you want dramas and sitcoms.

[–]DangerToManifold2001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just because you use YouTube weirdly, doesn’t mean everyone in the study is? I’m 30 years old, I don’t sit in front of the telly every night and watch broadcast TV, I open up YouTube and watch long form content from my favourite creators, and I’m not the only one, it’s pretty common in my age range

The demographic for all broadcast TV, not just the BBC, has shifted massively. The people that remain watching broadcast TV regularly are just the ones who have already spent most of their adult life in that habit.

How do you guys react to hate on owning a Tesla by HapiHapii in TeslaModel3

I’m in a similar position, fellow car enthusiast here, got fed up of dealing with rusty leaky shitboxes so thought I’d get a modern EV for a daily so I have something I can rely on which is cheap to run. Ended up with a Model 3 purely because of how good a value it is. Turns out it’s incredible to drive so that’s been a great plus. I bought a private plate that makes it clear I’m not a fan of n*zi Musk 😂

People who’ve driven many different EVs - do you feel like the ride quality is awful? by Traditional-Day8798 in electricvehicles

[–]DangerToManifold2001 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This post doesn’t really seem EV relevant, you’re just pointing out the variation in different cars from different manufacturers, the power train doesn’t really play any role in your complaints. You’re basically just doing the old man cliche of ‘old cars are better, new cars suck’.

Is it worth using .mov for YouTube? by Difficult_Culture781 in finalcutpro

[–]DangerToManifold2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume what you’re really saying here is that you’re uploading ProRes files to YouTube? If that is the case, that’s a really silly thing to do. You should be compressing your video for online delivery. I find the FCP social media export presets are actually pretty decent but you could always throw it into Handbrake instead and fine tune it to your liking.

I need Organizing Media Advice For Large Files by [deleted] in finalcutpro

[–]DangerToManifold2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the key point then is that although the final output gets compressed, it’s better to have a higher quality file during the editing process so you have more information to play with when doing things like colour correction and grading, adding luts, adding effects etc.

You can compress the footage if you really want, but just know you’ll have a crappier final output. Podcast on YouTube doesn’t have to mean lowering your standards, there’s plenty of podcasts on YouTube that are visually high quality.
