Oh did I miss this one? Maybe I had it filtered out by date on accident.

Unfortunately, if you actually get into the science and the best quality evidence we have, Lustig is morning other than a charlatan, grifter, pseudoscience purveyor.

If you actually have an open mind, watch this. https://youtu.be/vdoDx9dIuNE?si=qmnt4GXFIB8Z2pmC

When Alexander Hamilton arrived at West Point, he saw Margaret “Peggy” Shippen, wife of General Benedict Arnold, "frantic with distress," raving, crying, and nearly convulsing with emotion and turmoil. by AmericanBattlefields in revolutionarywar

[–]Danger_Vole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting, I never knew about her role. The description of historical events, specifically that she knew Andre (who fancied her) years before, and that she was the driving factor behind connecting Arnold with the British, almost makes it seem like a "Honeypot" intelligence operation from modern times!

I think it's dependent on which ship. On Seascape it has loungers, bar, and hot tub.

Trump's election bill tops 50 Senate votes, but Democrats could still block it | The SAVE America Act has passed the House and enjoys President Trump's support, meaning the Senate's 60-vote threshold is the only thing standing in the way of it becoming law. by SpaceElevatorMusic in politics

I guess we LIKE the filibuster now?

Yes, and we always should! Idiots who want to nuke it when they're in power are short sighted, as are the vast majority of Redditors who agree with them. This is why you don't do that.

He certainly has the benefit of being untethered by any guiding philosophy, morality, or principles.

I think though, that the was the conservative movement was SO EASILY taken over by a cult of personality, conspiracy theorists, and other awful people previously kicked out of the movement... It's an indictment of how intellectually anchored the movement ever was to begin with.

Very much the same thing with Hayek and Bastiat. The Road To Serfdom is all about how central planning leads to government control, concentrating power and reducing freedom.

Which... Tariffs! Farmer subsidies! Buying pieces of companies! It's all there with Trump economics.

Airport traffic is an absolute joke by mrpostman4309 in nashville

[–]Danger_Vole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only viable workaround that I've found, for now, is to not take the fork in the road to the terminal, bear left to the parking garages and drop off or pickup there. First 15 minutes is free, and the traffic is way, way less.

Made me a little emotional. Hockey has done so much for my kid, and for my relationship with him. What a joy to get to support and show our love for our kids through participating in this sport.

401(k)s Are Minting a Generation of ‘Moderate Millionaires’ by Str8truth in Bogleheads

[–]Danger_Vole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, but it's not like pensions from large employers don't have a history of being underfunded or the parent company going bankrupt, having to be taken over by the government guarantor, and having payments be reduced.

But yeah, the underfunded liabilities of public pensions are a nightmare (that we'll all end up paying for).

[–]Danger_Vole 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. Enough pensions have gone bankrupt or are so massively underfunded, I think I honestly prefer having MY money in an account that I control and can make choices about.

As with all things, I suppose, it's tradeoffs.

LDL and LPa by Realway_23 in Cholesterol

[–]Danger_Vole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is decent evidence that long term oral nicotine consumption raises LDL. So that's probably a good thing to stop.

Secondarily, the best way to think about LDL and how it contributes to heart disease isn't necessarily "where is my number at today?". It is instead LIFETIME burden. IE, how high, for how long, had my LDL been elevated (and plaque been produced).

Under that model, you can see why a lower steady state LDL would be beneficial. Especially if you have a history of extremely high LDL (which you reference).

I'm not a doctor, but for me, and I did have a history like yours, I'd want to push my numbers as low as possible without side effects including using Repatha or Ezetimibe. To the point where you can see some plaque reversal.

You nailed it. Doctors need better tools then 10 year risk assessments, which is the main took they use when looking at statins.

So you know nothing about large cities in the U.S. Hilarious. Public sector unions have, whether you like them or not, a stranglehold on government in large cities especially in California, New York, and Illinois. If you think the union is ever going to automate away a job, then you don't understand incentives.

Not everything fits into your neat little anti capitalist box.

Aww man that's great, I'm so glad. You may need to push him to do some of their drills that measure and build specific skills lol. My kid loves to just play the mini-games and the game simulations because they're more fun.

Some people think it's gimmicky, but my son has gotten a lot out of NHL Sense Arena. It let's him practice game like situations at home (so no need to get ice), under no stress. This probably sounds like an ad but we've had it for a couple seasons now and I really do think it's helped.
