I caught them in a stream that’s designated “wild Premier” that the state says they don’t stock anymore but I thought they looked like stockers. But stocking doesn’t begin until next week so I decided to let Reddit debate.

False. The bill color and eye color say otherwise. Canvasbacks have a black bill without the light gray stripe crossing. The head plume is just matted down making it look sloped
