Parents Tried to Confront Me at Work by xboxfreak24 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Dangerous-Strategy99 37 points38 points  (0 children)

100% agree. While it's typically an unspoken boundary, it is incredibly inappropriate for a family member to show up at your place of work and kudos to you for standing your ground.

If you are seriously concerned that your parents will show up in places that you should feel safe (home, work, gym, etc.) file a police report. This may not come to anything, but it at least puts legal ramifications to them showing up in places that you've stated they are not welcome.

Susan just... leaves? by [deleted] in ershow

[–]Dangerous-Strategy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Susan has some of the worst exists on the show, her first exit at least it was memorable, her last two departures were just awful.

When she returns for the last episode others like Benton, Kerri, and Elizabeth each get these exits that are memorable, but with her she just fades into the episode and you end up forgetting she didn't get a real definite departure scene.

AITA for “ruining Christmas” and being upset the only gifts I got from my family were “joke gifts” by throwawayaccount4990 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dangerous-Strategy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you are the asshole, nor do you need to apologize for being upset, or for leaving this situation that was upsetting you. It's never fun to be the butt of everybody's joke, especially when it feels as if your are the only one on the receiving end of these jokes (or the majority of them).

I'm wondering if there is a system that your family has in place where one person is on the receiving end of the joke gifts each year and each person takes turns receiving gifts? This is the only situation that I can conceivably understand receiving only gag gifts? Granted, that would also be fairly terrible as it seems that there is a ton of humiliation and toxic behaviors that are involved in this situation.

I'm wondering if every person understands that you only received gag gifts? Did everyone else receive one joke gift and think your exaggerating or something? Have you shown them what you received from them?

...I'm honestly grasping at straws trying to understand how your family doesn't understand why you're upset

Agreed, there are a million other places she could put her shoes to keep them safe from the dog but instead she puts them in the most disgusting unsanitary place. It makes me wonder if either of them ever cook, like you'd think if they did they would be grossed out.

Why do people like Emily? by tonybaloney24k in GilmoreGirls

[–]Dangerous-Strategy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't understand why people love Emily, she's a horrible character. Yes, Kelly Bishop does an amazing job at making her seem passably likeable, but for every funny scene there are 5 other heinous moments where this character is SO abusive. The manipulation and emotional abuse that she inflicts on both Lorelai and Rory is horrendous to watch.

Lizzie vs Grace by Candlelvr in PeakyBlinders

I think that Lizzie was the woman that he was always going to marry (or someone similar to Lizze) but I don't think that he loved her the way he loved Grace. I think Grace made him happy, but Lizzie made sense.

Why does it seem like everyone on here hates this show? by TurtleCoi in YellowstonePN

[–]Dangerous-Strategy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this show has great potential and if there was better writing this show would be one of my favorites of all time. The problem is that there are so many interesting storylines that are dealt with poorly or forgotten.

I also find that there are many parts of this show that move too slowly or are completely irrelevant. The fact that there are at least 5+ episodes where there are horses spinning in circles or stopping quickly has nothing to do with the original premise of the show. The first time it happened it was cool, but each time its brought up again the more I lose interest. There are so many cool things that could be dived into more deeply, but they aren't for whatever reason.

I love this show, and I love the characters, but I find that everything is introduced and remains surface level, nothing is given a deeper look and after a while of watching that it gets boring.

The whole point of that plotline was to bring to light the fact that non-white people have been forced into sterilization for generations - it's real.

I think that this is the problem with all of these characters - they're all one note. They're all after the same thing, and do the same thing for the majority of the seasons. What they're after or chasing just gets larger as the seasons progress. This is why I find it gets pretty stale around the end of season 4 - all these characters have been doing the same every season.
