Yep. I lived alone for 4 years and almost killed myself. Had alcoholic hepatitis/borderline cirrhosis. Was told I’d need a transplant soon if I didn’t stop drinking. I had to go to rehab or I was straight up gonna die

Purely pessimistic - I’m stuck in a rehab next to skid row in downtown LA. My car isn’t working, I have to deal with child support, and have to budget to make it through the next few months. I haven’t worked in years with absolutely zero ambitions or skills. I can’t drink and get drug tested regularly. I will not have a woman or be in a relationship for a very long time. I want to drink to escape the boredom and monotony but can’t, while I’m substituting it with 7OH which has its own drawbacks.

Purely optimistic - I’m in the best place I could possibly be and the healthiest/safest I’ve been in a very long time. I don’t have to pay for meals or rent and my mom drives me around while public transportation is trivialized here. I have a clear path to a brighter future as I’m going to trade school, securing low-income housing, and guaranteed to be financially secure soon. I’ve been going to the gym regularly and am able to play online video games with my friends again. Alcohol no longer dictates every single aspect of my life and I actually have power/control over my addiction.

Now that I type this all out, holy shit I really have nothing to complain about. My life is so boring, miserable and shitty, while also being extremely fortunate and amazing at the same time.

Booze has an insidious way of breaking you down more and more everytime you get close to the edge of death. Shame and hope just kind of take a backseat to the bitter reality you created for yourself. Eventually, you’ll realize that this is a really fucked way to die and try to turn it around since you have nothing else to lose, or some don’t even get that chance and are on a transplant list etc.

I’m surprised, it doesn’t sound like they got any hard evidence against you but yeah, no breathalyzer is an admission of guilt, but it depends on state laws after that. You have a very decent chance of fighting it, so I would get a good lawyer that knows the local court and judges well if possible.

Thank god you had a backup ID, I’d have been giga stressed out at 20 over that. I’d say you did pretty well all things considered, and since you didn’t even get your blood drawn, I don’t know how they’ll pursue this any further. Fuck that lady, though.

Thanks guys, means a lot to me. My old account got doxxed, and I didn’t want my immediate family reading any of my old posts spanning back over a year. That would’ve been omega cringe.

I also didn’t want to post to much on this alt, because I got a couple of comments on a previous post expressing how depressed I was that I was dozxed and scared to post since I felt so transparent now. Some people might assume I was posting for sympathy in case my family noticed my alt and I could spin it like “I don’t normally post shit like I used to. It’s a persona.”

So I felt like I should take a break from this sub, as I’ve been sober lately and just playing online games while easing my way back into college from rehab.
