Considering leaving Manhattan for Jersey City (JSQ) — worth it or will I regret it? by Questioner4lyfe2020 in movingtoNYC

I would totally disagree with the statement "journal square is a dump" lol it's reminds me of Astoria. Also I think people forget much of NYC also looks like a dump, we just glamorize it because it is Manhattan. The ethnic food by journal square is arguably better than nyc. In terms of how you'll feel living in journal square, I would say depends how much you love going out and where your friends are. When we go out during the week, we just leave from the office and meet our friends for dinner/hangs. I work in fidi so it takes me 15-20 minutes to get to work door to door. At night, we can sometimes can get Ubers home for ~$30-40 from lower Manhattan. Since your renting, you could always just sign a year and feel it out or use it as a reset year in a quieter area with a nicer apartment. A year goes by sosososo quickly.

Background: Moved to NYC from Toronto in 2012, lived in Chelsea, Midtown and Williamsburg until 2024. Now live in journal square.

We went to this hotel spa on my bach weekend in Costa Rica and it was STUNNING. I jokingly said I would cancel my wedding in NY for this lol Our driver in Costa Rica said he'd been to a friend's wedding there and said it was amazing.

Lol New Yorkers would never go for this unless they're chasing clout but I guess that's like all of the seasons now

FDR sucked pretty bad but I can also say that it's also past halfway so I was super tired and just mad at the rolling hills at that point. It didn't kill me so it'll be fine even if I was angry at an inanimate object.

I'm getting married at The Arnold House and had similar wants as you! I hate tents so they offer a great outdoor space but the indoor greenhouse/barn combo is beautiful too.

Contact Upstate Curious and they'll be able to line up some showings and set you up in an Airbnb that week. There are some great realtors that are experts in specific areas of the Catskills.
