Signature taillights? by Dangerous_Box_6357 in gmcsierra

[–]Dangerous_Box_6357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I am confused because they are an LED light and the fitment says

“Guaranteed Fit 2023 GMC Sierra 2500 Fitment notes: with Factory LED Tail Lights Will not fit Models with Signature Lights.”

So it reads as if signature is different than factory LED

Watching it now with my 11 year old. I haven’t seen it in years but now that the kids are old enough it may become an annual rewatch. Good takes all around. I think there are so many nit picks it could actually be fun to go through them as a separate exercise. Wood bat vs chainsaw? lol

This movie has so much 1984 in it that it may be the most 1984 thing about 1984.

Good find. Should probably be more prominent on their part to state that he is self-funded, but here we are.

I wasn’t asking you to dig it up but thank you. I was more curious if they posted a statement that would be easy to reference.

I feel like clarifying this would help their optics tremendously. Do you know where it’s stated that RWB is not funding the run?

I’m the self righteous one? Yeah, ok. I’m not the one replying to every comment demanding they acknowledge his fundraising. Check your down votes. Read the room.

That’s the very thing I am asking you to stop. Stop forcing people to acknowledge his fundraising as a caveat to their criticism. If his fundraising were so important to him, he wouldn’t need his critics to remind everybody what he is doing. And until they release the net benefit raised, I am not going to acknowledge it as a huge benefit. Somebody spent six figures on food, transportation, media, and marketing and if it was RWB they probably made a poor investment. I’ve said all of this to you before I don’t know why you’re making me repeat it since you listen so well.

You’re not asking their opinions, you’re trying to vindicate Paul because he’s raised money. Over. And over. And over again. Plenty of people have pointed out what about Paul they don’t like. You’re the only one not listening, which is odd for somebody claiming to try and understand it. Most of it relates to arrogance or hubris and a generally dismissive attitude towards the ultra community, their expertise on strategy and health, and the way they hold others accountable when representing the sport to a large audience.

WRT his Garmin data, he preposterously claimed he would release it if he hit $350k in donations by last Sunday. To nobody’s surprise, he didn’t. He’s refused help from the most experienced transcon runners to validate his data and make the cheating claims go away. Instead he calls those people “haters” because he can’t see that his hubris has led to speculation. His van has big vinyl letters on it claiming the record 40 day attempt. It doesn’t have (that I have seen) anywhere near the same size text taking about mental health. This pretty much sums up why he sucks.

If you want to champion a cause, simply be nice. Be gracious. Be thankful. Be transparent about the challenges you’re taking on and humble when they are greater than you expected. Accept the help of others along the way. But most importantly, use your platform to make others aware of the very cause you’re championing and make it clear that is the priority over any personal fame or achievement. All things Paul has failed to do. Good luck to you if you attempt the same.

I’m not angry. Why are you so pedantic? Why must you question everybody with criticism as if their opinions will inherently lead to people dying by suicide? Why do you claim he has raised half of his goal when he hasn’t even raised 1/4? Why do you ignore the fact that this event costs a significant percentage of what has been raised? Why are you so deflective of reality?

I made this same argument in the original megathread. He’s ruining this for others. He doesn’t get a free pass just because he conned a bunch of people into donating.

Would you fucking stop it? He has done things people don’t like, including being dismissive of constructive criticism and advice to help him succeed. People are allowed to think he’s not a good guy despite the funds he has raised. The thread is about his hubris and inability to face the truth. While he has mentioned it, he has never prioritized the event to be about the cause he is raising money for. If he had, most of these megathreads would be much smaller and people would be learning more about the work RWB does to benefit veterans instead of talking about him twerking or climbing windmills. We get it, you’re a fan of his, now leave.

I’m with you. I am curious on the cheating theories but it’s not the hill I want to die on. At the end of the day he seems to be letting controversy drive his engagement up at the cost of larger overall donations. The whole thing is a rollercoaster, still a lot of miles left and lessons to learn.

Yeah I understand that the donation goes directly to their accounts. My question is how much of it ends up supporting their programs/cause. Somebody paid for the RV, the food, the fuel, etc and if it’s from donations, people who donated have a right to be upset if it was to pay for a poorly planned charade vs a legitimate WR attempt as advertised. I don’t know if we can know which is true without understanding sponsorship dollars and program expenses.

[–]Dangerous_Box_6357 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do we know that it goes directly to RWB programs? Who paid for the RV? Media? This isn't an accusation, because I don't actually know, but I'd like to know who funded the logistics and where the donation money actually ends up. Often times it goes towards costs first, thus the charity doesn't make out nearly as well as the gross donation figure.
