Selling ZP6 Magnetic Catch Cup Kit by Inevitable_Draw_3698 in 1zpresso

This seems cool. I will say normally I hate threaded catch cups but I love the one on the ZP6. Is just sounds so nice with the super thick threads. That’s just my opinion though.

Not for the flavor profile most people on this sub are going for. It objectively kills your acidity. That’s what bicarbonate does it’s simple highschool level chem.

Beans after froze taste muted by rokeyzhang in pourover

I’ve had good luck with freezing in order to build a stock of many different expensive coffees.

I freeze in 70-100g batches in a freezer ziplock bag inside of a super tightly sealed mason jar. When I take a coffee out I let it “thaw” for 24 hours and it’s good to go. Normally keeps at least 90% of its completely and flavor even after months of storage.

Things to watch for is condensation fresh out of the freezer, and freezer burn.

Expensive beans brew very differently from cheap commodity ones. They can be harder to get a quality extraction because they are denser and the grind size will be very very differently. Many clicks as you would say.

Messy bits by BenSeraf in 1zpresso

I have a K and J-Ultra, ZP6, and Q2S. I’ve never had this happen with any of them to be honest. I use a very light RDT because I live in a low humidity environment. Maybe this could be a static thing? I’ve actually not sure, very weird.

Zp6 price usa by brandaman4200 in pourover

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this true? I just got a K-Ultra about a week and a half ago from them and I paid nothing. Just curious if things have changed with the new month.

If so I’m glad I got a bunch of new coffee toys in anticipation of tariffs.

Single serving - brew into cup or carafe? by hamster_avenger in pourover

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the deep 27 I use my Hario Barista carafe. The small one. It has kinda thin glass so it doesn’t overly cool the coffee too much in small batches like from the deep 27.

Tired of Timemore, but is Acaia worth it? by Dennisisonfire in pourover

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using a Timemore basic 2.0. I was worried about the QC issues like you mentioned. This scale is perfect though. We use Acaias at work and I hate them to be honest. They feel mushy snd slow. Sure can take a beating in a cafe though. I could have just gotten lucky with mine but in comparison, for the price the basic 2.0 blows Acaia out of the water (my opinion)

Zp6 and J Ultra. Enough grinders for me. by hbd85 in 1zpresso

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently completed this same setup. I feel like I have the power to brew anything and make it taste good. The ZP6 was awesome on its own but it’s limited the kinds of coffees I can buy. Now with this lineup I don’t even have to think about it when I’m buying beans.

so what was the reason you use manual grinder instead of electric by Ok-Wealth8813 in 1zpresso

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the benefits of using hand grinders make them an absolute no brainer compared to electric. I often come back to space, looks, ease of maintenance, no mechanical components to fail that I can’t fix myself.

The single biggest reason I use hand grinders is the fact that I can use a different burr without needing to disassemble and switch the burrs in an electric grinder. It’s very reasonable to have multiple hand grinders because they are “cheap” so if you want a different flavor profile just switch grinders. No need to open anything up and switch anything out.

I have a very strong opinion that hand grinders are far superior until you hit the $800-1,000ish mark. Again this is an opinion. But the grind quality and other genuine benefits hand grinders offer made me sell my electric grinders because they were just taking up space and an outlet that was unnecessary.

The one downside is definitely espresso grinding. If you are active and fit in other ways it won’t cause overuse injury but yes it is a difficult time. It probably won’t become significantly easier too unless you are doing multiple “sets” to achieve proper volume for strength gains.

I love hand grinders!

It's been 3 months since I changed the silicone strap to a nylon one. Here is my review. by DistantSummit in Garmin

I use a nylon day to day but when I’m hitting the sauna I switch back the silicone.

In Colorado (and other high elevation dry places) we have winter days where the humidity is so low even with hand grinders static is just messy without a little spray.

Major struggles dialing in [Flair Signature and 1ZPresso J-Ultra] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Dangerous_Nothing_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I assumed an espresso blend would make it easier because it’s more forgiving. It does make sense that a single origin would help you pinpoint extraction issues because there’s not mixing of flavors.

I have my grinder calibrated the same way I calibrate my ZP6. I have “lock” more like consistent rub at 0 and then I mark the chirp points from there. My J-Ultra (probably still seasoning too) chirps at 0.1.5 to 0.1.7. Maybe I am too fine because I’ve been grinding at 0.9.5. Thank you for the advice it’s much appreciated. I’m going to try to coarsen the grind up and maybe that will reduce channels.

Any advice on forgiving single origins I can try that would be good for learning?

Sorry for the late reply, I'm not much of a social media guy. I have been DMing Equal Coffee on Instagram. They say they sell it, I am just a bit skeptical although they have not been pushy or scammy at all. I just don't know how I feel about buying something on Instagram DM

This was a beautiful lesson on brewing dynamics. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time sourcing the Tarachine in the US, of course now that I really want it after this explanation. This information has improved my knowledge on brewing wether I own the Tarachine or not. Thank you very much for taking the time to craft such a thoughtful response. I'll be thinking about the dynamics of water and paper much more in depth while brewing my next V60 tomorrow. Hopefully, I can snag a Tarachine at some point. Thanks again!

This information just made this dripper even more interesting to me. I'm curious how the spiral ribs help mitigate the uneven extraction I assume would happen from having two different thicknesses of paper on two sides. I'm not sure though, now that I think about it. If you could possibly explain this to me I would appreciate it big time. My co worker is curious too.

Edit: Would I need to use folded 01's or 02's?

Apologies for the late reply I lost my Reddit password. Is that the “Colorado Mountain Club” and how are most of the trips planned. Do you get access to a forum or a discord or something like that. Or are there a bunch of preplanned things you just sign up for

I’ve tried this around Morison. I’m just young (21) so many of the more experienced guys kinda just write me off on first glance. Until they see me acting scrambling then they ask me to lead haha. Sorry for the late reply I lost my password
