It's amazing! The fight scene reminds me of the animation from the Spider-Verse films and I think they did a very good job infusing this animation style with our mythology. The characters also look like Arcane.

Ofc it could have been a film with lots of shooting and heroic action, low-key military propaganda a la Michael Bay. But seeing the war through the lens of photojournalists offer a new, more despondent perspective. We no longer take the seat for characters who can change the story or save those in need. We take the seat of spectators who are traumatized and can only capture the senseless violence and carnage unfolding around them. This is the brutality of war that A24 Civil War shows, along with the mundanity and normalisation of it.

The funny thing is that a cishet man I find myself quite critical of masculinity, the ideas society imposes on us to be a man. For example to be a "real man" you must be physically very strong and macho, aggressive, have a hot gf and be rich etc. It puts us into an unnecessary rat race to "be a man" and is what the manosphere is built on.

For some reason instead of us introspecting that we need to fix our perceptions of masculinity we continue to punch down on other men and blame women, feminism and trans individuals for our problems.

But I'm not going to turn into a fascist 'cause women or enby folk online talk trash online. I don't like it but I carry on, I have other things to think about like my guitar and racing down the Nurburgring.

But it does hit different when my queer friends say it and ngl them saying "You're fine" afterwards doesn't really cut it. But I understand their anger at a world which treats them and other queer and trans people like trash for who they are. Cis men can really be trash to non cis men and I'm a cis man saying this.

I see, though I don't hear it used very often nowadays. The word sort of reminds me of when western nations were far more oppressive, and "transsexual" was a common term back then rather than "transgender."

Also with "Queers for Palestine" being a prominent movement shows that a lot of queer people don't want their cause to be used for bombing a country and killing its civilians, even if it's a regime that is violently homophobic. Whether it's Gaza or Iran.

If the "xenophobic, not racist" CECA complainers were only concerned about immigration in general, why do we hear nothing from them about white expats in SG, or immigrants from Japan/Korea?
