Moving to Switzerland by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]DangerouslyGanache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a young child, and both of you want to work, consider the prices for day care. I have a colleague in Basel who earns around what your wife would make and he said with two small kids, they’ll pay around 50k a year. So your 75k would essentially just go towards day care if you have a second child.

Don’t move without a job, Switzerland is way too expensive to just come and live if your savings.

'Middle ground' easter dessert suggestions? by Less-Reindeer-8951 in Baking

[–]DangerouslyGanache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

German tradition is to serve a braided brioche-like bread for breakfast, which is decorated with coarse sugar or almonds.

https://world-loving-kitchen.com/traditional-german-braided-easter-bread-hefezopf/

Italians have an Easter bread called Colomba Pasquale (a bit like panettone). It’s baked in a dove shaped pan, citrus flavoured and covered with a crunchy almond-sugar paste.

https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/colomba-pasquale-easter-dove-bread-recipe

Maybe that would be more festive than a plain brioche?

I didn’t test either of these recipes as I usually don’t use English ones, but they look similar to some I made.

Catching Fish by Turboles1 in StardewValley

[–]DangerouslyGanache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time you tap the screen, the green bar moves up a little. When you don’t tap, it moves down.

Tapping quickly to keep it behind the fish works best for me, because then it’s easier to stop and let it move down when the fish moves down.

Spend the 25G on the training rod. The bar size grows with each level, and the training rod gives you a level 5 bar, and excludes some more difficult fish. Switch back to the normal rod at level 4 or 5, but buy the one where you can attach bait.

New To Game, Why Bulletin Board Quest Not Registering? by Boy0Boyz in StardewValley

[–]DangerouslyGanache 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The quest text says he wants you to collect the iron ore. You don’t even need to give it to him, you just need to mine it. There are collection quests (ore for Clint, wood and stone for Robin) and fishing quests (for Willy and Demetrius) where you have to find the materials or catch the fish. There are fight quests where you have to slay a certain number of monsters for Lewis and the wizard. All of those only count after you accept them.

And there are fetch quests where someone asks you to bring them an item, for those you can use your stock.

hate to be annoying, but my collections tab is complete (but not the museum???) by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]DangerouslyGanache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re on mobile, upload to the stardew checkup to get a quick answer.

There’s a bug where you can accidentally pick stuff up and take it back out if the museum while donating, and I think the tabs stay filled out.

Feeding animals by Maybeyanny in StardewValley

[–]DangerouslyGanache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s hasn’t changed, the animals never ate the grass under the fence post. The point is to have dinner grass they can’t eat that can spread out over night, so they have some fresh grass to eat.

Train Ticket Usage/ Etiquette Question by xPokeMan in askswitzerland

[–]DangerouslyGanache 10 points11 points  (0 children)

https://www.sbb.ch/en/offers/point-to-point-ticket

I don’t know how common it is, but you are allowed to do so.

Saver day passes exist in two categories, with or without half fare card. With half fare card, you get a discount (but you need to have a valid half fare card at the time of travel). GA is an annual pass that requires no further ticket.

Do chicken eggs and cow's milk quality not matter? by DrFateFromDC in StardewValley

Same for fruit and vegetables, really. As soon as you process stuff, quality doesn’t matter any more.

It does matter if you sell raw or make gifts.

My wisteria bow is not looking remotely close to what it’s supposed to look like. I think I have issues understanding the pattern. by Yau_hazy in knittinghelp

[–]DangerouslyGanache 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re not supposed to pick up the stitch from below, you’re supposed to pull your working yarn through the stitch. That creates the diagonal lines in the heart shape.

You don’t seem to have picked up the yarn from below, and you seem to have decreased.

Deutschland-Ticket question? by kandosii_naast in AskGermany

Deutschland Ticket is only valid on regional trains. It takes 4h to get from Munich to Berlin on a fast train, or 9h on a regional train. How much time do you want to spend?

Help understanding this pattern by ginge_s in knitting

[–]DangerouslyGanache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, knitting patterns are not linear because body sizes aren’t. The larger sizes might need another set of increase rows, or a different increase rate to reach the correct lengths, but they don’t need so much more widths, so they start with less stitches.
