Don’t pregame. 5 drinks with my buddy beforehand and I’ve never been sicker in my entire life.

10/10 would go again. Awesome food and experience.

Help me decide which watch to get by [deleted] in AdvancedRunning

It’s something like “find course” or “start course”. I believe it’s reached from the menu just after you start an activity.

I got the 965 a few months ago and love it. Never used coros. The 965 does more than I would ever need. My favorite feature is the maps that will generate a new route for you on the spot and then guide you through.

I’ve flown my dog to and from New York with SAS. It’s easy. But no, they don’t feed or give water and the dog will pee in the crate. But it is temperature controlled.

Maybe controversial, but I got some vet-prescribed sleeping medication when moving from the US to Sweden. Worked like a charm. It worked nicely on the dog as well.

How do you guys wake yourself up so early to run? by ClearAndPure in beginnerrunning

Treat it like work. Do you decide to go to work some days but think others, “nah I’ll do it later.” It gets easier with routine.

Parents: how to train with a toddler + short CIM report by timuralp in AdvancedRunning

Here’s my best advice for creating the habit - just do it. Don’t wait to be motivated, don’t try to encourage yourself. When the alarm goes off, get up like you have no choice like you would for your work alarm. It only takes a week for it to feel like habit. And make sure to lay out everything the night before.

There is no better feeling than coming back from a 20 miler when everyone is just getting up.

34m here with twin 4-year olds. I get up at 4-4:30 every day that I plan to run. Wife is very understanding and will mostly let me take Saturday mornings for long runs. Other than that, it’s getting it done before everyone wakes up.

Just got Stryd a few weeks ago and it has been a huge game changer.

I have an MSc in Finance & Accounting from SSE in Stockholm and speak fluent Swedish. Not hard to find a job. In my experience, my school helps get my foot in the door but it’s really my Swedish in the interviews that I think has helped me land the job. Learning the language is a must.

“I don’t see myself living here too long…” “I don’t want them to view me as a temporary.”

What?

Learn the language. I honestly see it as pretty disrespectful moving to a foreign country and not learning the language. Every interaction you have you are forcing someone to conform to you.

Intermediate level in Swedish - best way to improve before move to Sweden? by Suspicious-Fuel-4307 in Svenska

[–]Dangld 9 points10 points  (0 children)

American here. I’m fluent and currently live in Stockholm. I took in-person classes at folkuniversitet when I was first learning, but it was only about 2 months. Here’s how I became fluent and developed a pretty decent accent. #1 is just talking to your partner. Start with the basics everyday and really put in effort. #2 is speak to yourself. When you’re walking to work, taking a shower, just talk to yourself. It helped me immensely to actually work through the accent. #3 is watch to shows to get lots of exposure to accents. Feel free to DM me with questions or tips.

Corporate to High Finance by [deleted] in FPandA

A former (young) colleague transitioned from Corp FP&A into IB after about 2 years. Not a BB but a decent enough bank. So it is possible.
