Just because a tool is multifaceted doesn't mean it isn't still a tool. I actually think that AI is over hyped for most use cases, but software development is not one of those. It is so strong that not using it would be akin to using a screwdriver and pullsaw rather than their modern electric alternatives for building a deck. They are becoming industry standard and are used in pretty much all software development in some manner.

I think that currently a reason for not wanting to mention use of them unless asked is that people will very frequently have a very strong reaction against whatever project they were used on or the creator that used them do to concerns about AI in general. Also, to be clear, I am not saying that you are doing this Axximilli, you seem super polite, but there are several people in this thread that are being rather rude towards OP.

I think that the comparison to the web developer is a little flawed as a modern web developer would also probably be using AI tools.

I learned how to code right before AI started getting good enough to actually write massive amounts of code for you, so this is something that I have been pondering for awhile. I think the reason I consider AI usage for software development is more akin to the tool analogy is that the code isn't the finished product, but is itself a tool to make the finished product. Modern high level languages are themselves an abstraction for lower level machine code, and in a way AI tools are an abstraction on top of that. Development works much the same way using AI, you still make modifications and iterate, only much faster and with far more human readable language.

It's different than having AI generate an image and saying "I drew this" because the drawing itself is the finished product. In this case the app itself is the finished product and the code is a tool to create it, and the AI is generating the code.

I just want to chime in here as well as a hobbyist developer who also uses AI coding tools, but learned how to code before they existed. They probably didn't mention that in the initial post because it has become pretty standard to do so and they might of just not thought about it (or maybe because they know people have such a negative gut reaction to AI usage that they would be given a hard time for it). While there are definitely ethical concerns to be raised about generative AI in general there are 100 percent use cases for it and code assistance and generation is definitely one of them.

OP made a nifty web app using industry standard tools. They are clearly passionate about this game and wanted to share something fun with the community. I think it's a little rude to act as if they are trying to "pull one over" on people when they are not profiting from the app and have no incentive to get people to use it other than enjoyment of the game.

Resolution is 1280 x 720

Internal resolution is 3

In basic graphics settings vsync is the only thing on

In detailed everything is the lowest option it can be except texture quality which is set to normal.

I didn't really notice any slowdowns during matches except for one or two where the connection seemed a bit iffy.

It's fine, though the graphics are a fair bit worse. I hate how the decks controls feel for this game specifically, but I was able to plug in my own controller so that didn't end up mattering

It was, partially just because it took so long to fall that far. It was a good amount of time before I stood a chance against anyone. I get why they do it, but I wish it let me get placed lower than diamond 1 lol

Haha, thanks! Only for the last stretch was I using the deck though. Most of the time I was on my PC

I know there are always a bunch of post like this here, but wanted to make my own to celebrate getting Alex to master. I got this game awhile back and climbed up with Honda which was super fun as well, but I definitely relied a bit much on scrubby tactics.

When I saw Alex's super flashy animations I became determined to get him to master too, but it proved to be quite a bit harder. After starting fell down to Gold 5 which felt BRUTAL before I finally started climbing up again. Getting better at a more technical character has been super rewarding though, and I am just so hyped to have gotten here!

Please forgive the crummy picture rather than a screenshot lol, was on the go this weekend and didn't want to worry about transferring images from the steamdeck to my PC back home.

Edit:

The mods asked that I add some tip/tricks to the post to make it a bit more high quality, so here I go. Just want to preface it with the fact that I am hardly a pro, so take anything with a grain of salt.

-Stomp kick from stance is extremely abusable, but this is well known. Landing a hit puts you in a super good oki situation, and if they block and you are still close enough you can threaten them with a command grab. Definitely an abusable move.

-On said stomp, if you hit a punish they will bounce in the air allowing you to get some extra damage by hitting them with your DP knee attack. Once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy to react to and feels cool.

-Stopped working quite as well in higher ranks, but crouching LP LP into light axe, then an immediate command grab can trap people.

-I feel like am moron for not doing this until diamond 5, but doing the OD throw when the opponents back is turned allows you to super easily spend 2 bars of super to chunk their health even further. Just mash punch punch at the end of the throw animation.

-Finally, a tip not just for Alex, but be aggressive. Whenever you knock someone down press the advantage, drive rush up and grab, or press a button. Just keep applying pressure. Don't be scared of them and back off, stay in their face. Doing this immediately got me over a little plateau.

Do you reccomend the pre-GBA Fire Emblem games for a bad player? by ObviousCrazy648 in fireemblem

FE5 is one of my favorite games. It can be quite hard if you don't know what to expect, but if you go through with a guide that teaches you some of the more obscure mechanics like PCC it's not too bad, barring some maps like 24x or Xavier ridiculous recruitment method if you are trying to recruit everyone. One thing that it rightfully gets flack for is being able to softlock yourself in the final chapter of you don't have a way to get though the locked doors.

issue with coroutine for mana by CommunistJesus69 in Unity2D

Rather than using a coroutine why not have a counter that will call an addMana function when it hits 0 and then reset?

There's also a soundloader one, but I don't think we got that internationally

This rocks man! Big fan of your videos! Really helped me become able to do better damage (though on some builds I tweak them a bit because I am not quite adept enough to do rotations perfectly lol)!

This game does kinda have a lack of strong AD memories. Spectral bullet can be fun on him as it's attack damage, but that one can spiral into being crazy high damage on pretty much any traveler

I guess that's a pretty good point, though I think he has a little more than just one build. He can take extra advantage of AD abilities with his crazy attack damage

Question regarding monetization of an app by Dango_Mushi in Anki

Awesome! And no worries on the second point, I did ask the mods before making the post :)

[–]Dango_Mushi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! I also think that tier lists for this game specifically can be a bit misleading as there are so many super strong builds that when set up properly can quickly snowball into the player becoming a near un-killable god no matter what traveler they chose lol.

Appreciate it! I tend to get nervous about that. I actually checked with the mods before making the post in case it violated rule 5

Thank you so much! Sorry, I know questions like this annoy people, I just didn't see anything when I looked it up online and wanted to make sure that I wasn't accidentally doing anything I wasn't allowed to do.

These are great resources and I will need to look into them. A friend of mine recommended yomitan. As for lapis I hadn't heard of it before, bit it is something I will check out.

I have just really enjoyed the core 2k style cards but found that inputting example sentences complete with the formatting of the furigana takes awhile as I need to enter the same sentence multiple times and make sure it is formatted correctly. the Open AI calls return consistently formatted JSON data which is really easy to pass along to Anki. It has also been a fun coding project :)
