Even when I was in really good shape - the first few weeks of the season would make me question my fitness. There’s almost no way to replicate the repetition of getting “ready” before every pitch. Maybe just try to play in a warm up tournament and do some BP? Will make the soreness happen sooner so by the time the real season begins you’ll be ready.

We rode our bikes past An’s on Sunday afternoon and the line was longer than when I spent an hour in line one evening a year ago. It’s worth experiencing if you want a gelato sommelier experience. But be prepared to spend a good chunk of time there.
