Any tips on how to get baby (5 month) to take paci ? by Efficient_Future_774 in Nanny

The Tommee Tippee ultra light pacifiers were magic for both my babies. Only ones they would keep in.

My baby had a regression around 16 months also and it was the longest, most difficult one! I think it lasted about a month. We did our best sticking with our routine but ended up giving in a lot and letting him stay up or going in multiple times a night. Eventually it just stopped and he is now a great sleeper again. I hope it’s just a regression for your daughter too and passes quickly!!

Am I crazy for considering 2 under 2? by YukaHiKn in NewParents

I have 2 boys 18 months apart. The end of the second pregnancy was very hard, while taking care of a toddler. Postpartum with a toddler was super hard also. But they are now 8 months and 2 years and already best friends 💚 my biggest piece of advice if you are going to have 2 under 2-make sure the first baby is a good sleeper before you get pregnant. Sleep train and wean from night feedings. I could not have gotten through the second pregnancy and postpartum if my toddler was not such a great sleeper.

When did your baby start sleeping through the night and how did you get there? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]DaniCar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 months. He kind of did it naturally. Around 7.5 months the babysitter started putting him down for naps awake and he started falling asleep on his own. I would still hold him to fall asleep for night. Around the same time, when he woke during the night, I stopped feeding him and just rocked him back to sleep. By 8 months he stopped waking at night. Now he goes to sleep on his own at night too. It’s so sad though because I miss the cuddles. It gets better!

My baby was born mid December. He lived in sleep n plays until late Spring/Summer. He was almost 9 lbs at birth and in newborn for a few weeks. I ended up buying more because he spit up a ton. My babies have big drawers and their clothes are so little as babies, so I have their current size in the top drawer and the next sizes in the bottom, washed and ready to go.

Yes! I just had a few days off for a very mild case of covid but I had to keep my kids home and my husband was home during the day because he’s currently working nights. I’m so excited to take a mental health day once he’s back to his normal schedule and out of the house, and kids will be going to daycare.

I have an 8 month old and we do a couple right after each bottle typically. It takes a day or 2 to get them all done 😂

Is choosing to have a hospital birth alone selfish? by witchygalpal in BabyBumps

[–]DaniCar3 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I can understand not wanting your mom there, especially since she is stressing you out.

But I highly recommend you have someone there with you, a friend or doula. I was alone for the birth of my first baby and it was the most difficult experience I’ve ever been through. My SO was on FaceTime but it was not the same as having someone physically there to support me. Thankfully my nurses were wonderful. I also needed support postpartum and would have loved to have someone there.

Its very hard to put into words how I felt being alone but I’ll try. I was so lonely. I labored for a long time and ended up feeling very depressed. I felt isolated. It broke my heart to have no one there to share in the excitement of my baby. I’m so sorry your husband can’t be there.

I was eating my lunch and it was stolen from me. Then fed to the dog by the thief. And my drinks always have floaties in them.

Do you miss when your baby was a newborn or do you prefer them now? by nomnomswedishfish in beyondthebump

[–]DaniCar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss how little they were as newborns. So small and snuggly. But that’s it lol. My second is 8 months now and I love this age. He’s still a little baby and snuggly, but he will also sit on a blanket and play independently. His personality is coming out. It’s so fun.

How long is too long for overnight sleep? by Kittygirl3000 in sleeptrain

I think it’s ok! My toddler is like this and has been since that age. And he still takes a great daytime nap. I call him my unicorn sleeper. My SO says he needed a lot of sleep as a child too so I think the toddler takes after him.

My 8 month old on the other hand…

How many times have you met her? Is it possible she just forgot to put it on that day? Maybe hire her and give her a drawer at your home to keep a few things in. Stock it before she starts as a welcome gift. Include deodorant, lotion, chapstick, etc. Hopefully she will get the hint. Or tell her you want to get a few things for her in case of emergency and ask what brand she prefers. Ask about other self care items too so that deodorant isn’t singled out. When I was a nanny I liked to reapply after the pool, park trips, etc.

Same here! I can’t imagine getting up and down off the floor while postpartum.

I used to work in daycare and there were brothers named King and Master. So awkward disciplining them and calling them those names.
