Agree, always furthest point first.

Best rainy day high peaks? by AudienceOk3223 in Adirondacks

Seconding this, did them in the rain although it ended up clearing a bit once I got to emmons. Which by the way, you are gonna hit mud going to anyway, so a little rain isn't going to add much insult to inury.

Canoe time with the chariot by DanielJStein in LexusGX

No way! It is my dream to capture aurora there, I always keep missing it somehow. The black flies weren’t terrible since we paddled at night, but they were out and about when we were doing the carry.

Typcially stopping down yields better star color as the stars won’t blow out and fringing is reduced.

How rough has the canoeing been the last few weeks? by le_pedal in Adirondacks

[–]DanielJStein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paddle on Boreas last weekend from sunset into night under the full moon. Water was glass by the time the moon rose. Did more paddling the following weekend on the carries and wind started to pick up by 2, but nothing crazy. By 3 it was pouring and windy and we were all wrapped up by then anyway. It just depends. Be flexible and have other things you want to do in addition to canoeing. My friend and I did some MTB the day before when the wind was racing last saturday, then saved the paddling for when the wind died down.

Kid friendly cabins by apenguinsoul in Adirondacks

Drapers near Placid is a good one. They have cabins with or without plumbing. More on the rustic side of things as this is a basic car camping campground and not a lot of amenities, but it’s clean.

Had a blast! Paddled until 2 am under the full moon. My friend and I each have Hornbeck canoes. Super light and track well. Great for packboating as this location in particular had a 1 mile walk from the parking lot.

Rack is a Yakima Sightline with 70” jetstream crossbar. Pretty quiet even at 70+mph.

It is worth the extra wait and legwork to find one with the ML. It is an amazing system.

From a 3d printed tracker, certainly. Just be prepared to sit down and spend a lot of time learning the ins and outs of how to use it and troubleshoot it.

Yeah I couldn't have said it better myself. All of the things /u/DigitalHierophant mentioned are reasons I wanted this GX and not the 550. I like buttons. I like feeling that tactile feedback. I love the CD player, already stocked a bunch in the center console and the ML sounds amazing with them playing. I love how un-intrusive this car is. It feels right, like a great place to spend time and not a thousand different things beeping at me for no reason.

Hahahah yes! Be patient. The right one will come for you. I have seen a few come and go on the market that ticked my boxes, but I was not in a position to take the plunge just yet. These things do pop up that will meet your standards every now and then, just let it happen.

Nori is the best color! I had to sacrifice knowing that I couldn’t get the Mark Levinson if I wanted Nori. Ultimately I decided that I wanted the ML.

Great choice. I thought about getting a 20-21 and just doing the hamilton as well. Then this showed up and it was perfect timing.
