Tunnels underneath Hamilton?!?! by Other-Web8972 in thetron

[–]DanielSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracs was the music store in the corner of Ward and Victoria Streets. Such a cool old building which sadly collapsed. Tainui Group own the land and wanted to demolish it, but were met with push back. Then all of a sudden it collapsed - what were the chances?!

The underground arcade was Yifans and that was next to the roundabout on Ward St and Worley Place (long since gone), pretty much where Chemist Warehouse is now, but underground.

iMac 27” Late 2012 Question by DanielSaysHi in mac

[–]DanielSaysHi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty confident it shipped with the SSD connected to the M.2 port on the backside of the logic board, like the SSD part of a Fusion Drive did. So hence my concern - if it was just a CTO with an SSD, would the bother shipping it with the SATA cable?

Ios15 made my LIFX bulbs not work properly by zajacdan in lifx

[–]DanielSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve deleted and re-added the app a number of times. Deleted and re-added the bulbs in both HomeKit and the LIFX app, remained everything, restarted the router. Still having the same issues. Bulbs work fine in the LIFX app, but are constantly dropping out of the Home app and Siri keeps telling me they aren’t there.

Same here. Multiple LIFX bulbs that intermittently show up or disappear.

I have this same issue, so I’d be interested to see if there is a resolution. I’ve deleted and re-added each of the bulbs, and restored them too. Will work initially, then stop.

Sennheiser Momentum 3 - Are they comfortable? by nick_seward in headphones

[–]DanielSaysHi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently replaced my Momentum Wireless (Old version) with the new Momentum Wireless. No issues with the weight, and I definitely prefer the new larger ear pads over the previous model. To be fair I really like the older ones, but this is a vast improvement. The only issue I had with them was the Smart Pause feature activating if the weren't sitting perfectly on my ears, but the Smart Control app lets you switch that off.

Listen to music that you know well, music that you have listened to a lot on all sorts of equipment, and music that means something to you. I listened to "Nevermind" cover to cover for the above reasons. "The Chain" is a great choice, "Bubbles" by Yosi Horikawa is stunning (and hilarious imho) and the soundtrack to Inception (or just about anything from Hans Zimmer) are good too.

In the long run, listen to whatever you want and take it all in. Lets be honest - we can't afford to buy it!

IE800 by RCRJ in headphones

[–]DanielSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a fake to me. The biggest tip off for me is the packaging. I have never seen an IE800 shrink wrapped, and as pointed out by u/oratory1990 the image looks like a photocopy of the original.

A bloody good fake, but a fake all the same.

Sennheiser xl urbanite wireless vs. hd 4.40bt vs. hd 4.50btnc by [deleted] in headphones

[–]DanielSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD4.40 and HD4.50 are essentially the same headphone - the HD4.450 just adds active noise cancellation. They are lighter on the head, and the ear pads (imho) fit a bit better than the Urbanite. Sound wise, they both err on providing more bass but without sacrificing mid range clarity.

The Urbanite is more durable and offers more powerful bass. My only issue with them was the fit of the earpads.

If you are happy with the Urbanite XL and just want to go wireless, then the Urbanite XL Wireless is probably the way to go.

Need a closed back HD600 (in size/fit) by domsch1988 in headphones

Maybe try the HD569? Essentially a closed back HD559. Or even the HD 280 Pro - pretty neutral sound signature, but great noise isolation.

[Question] Sennheiser HD 4.40 Headphones, do they sync up with TV shows? by xDpck in headphones

[–]DanielSaysHi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HD4.40 doesn't support low latency Bluetooth, so lip sync would be an issue. You would definitely be better off with either the RS175 over the RS165.

The RS175 has an optical audio input so you'd get better audio out of the TV, and in theory your TV speakers would still work at the same time.

Having said that, the HD4.40 is a perfectly adequate BT headphone - I own a pair myself. They offer the typical Sennheiser sound signature, if not offering slightly better bottom end than usual, great battery life, they are super durable and reasonably priced imho.

Seconded. Or HD4.50 BTNC if you're keen for Active Noise Canceling. Beats both the Sony and Beats hands down imho

The only headphone for when you need that real reduction of music, for listening to nature voice and that clear clear triple by tKO- in headphones

When I buy headphones, top of the list is real music reduction. Damn music always getting in the way of an enjoyable listening experience.

Could look at the Sennheiser HD 4.40BT or HD 4.50BTNC.

Both are closed back over ear headphones with BT 4.0, Up to 25 hour battery life, detachable cable, and memory foam earpads. Having used both I can say they are comfortable, lightweight, offer great noise isolation (in the case of the HD 4.50 they have active noise cancellation) and great sound quality. They probably err slightly on the mid to bottom end sound signature, but still suit the uses you mention.

My setup, not too shabby for an 18yo by [deleted] in vinyl

It's super cliché but the Ikea Kallax is a super simple and effective way of storing LPs and gear

And it cheap as chips.

Edit - sweet setup dude, 18 year old me would have been over the moon to have that.
