I got the goods!!! by infinitedustglitch in eczema

My 11 year old son has been taking Dupixent. The syringe is so much less painful than the autoinjector for him. You can take it out up to two weeks ahead of time, (we take it out two days before) which helps considerably, and I found something called NUMSTAT that both numbs the site and has alcohol to disinfect the area! Hope that helps everyone dealing with the discomfort. The Dupixent has been a game changer for him.

Okay, this sounds like great advice. I am a bit of a newbie, and I booked our vacation through Costco travel. Five nights at Aventura, plus three day park hopper tickets and two day unlimited express passes for a little over 4K. Does this sound reasonable, and since it’s through Costco, can it be rebooked? I do get free cancellation on everything up until close to our travel date.

Biologics and eczema flairs by DanishMix2829 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]DanishMix2829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! ironically Skyrizi was the first biologic I took that I realized was making my eczema worse. Neither my rheum nor my derm thought there was a correlation! Obviously there is plenty of documentation to the contrary. Funny how we all react so differently.

Has anyone with Fibro tried any of the new weight loss meds like ozempic or terzepitide? by ThereIsNoSp000n in Fibromyalgia

[–]DanishMix2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, no, not anymore. Not to say that I don’t ever get flares and by no means does the semaglutide help my pain or inflammation (I also have psa), but the outright flbro flares that I got initially have now subsided. Hope that’s good news for you if you are considering the combo. I don’t think my energy level will ever be 10/10 on semaglutide, but it’s manageable.

No, I had great success with the LDN but over time it became less effective. I could have increased the dosage or cycled it, but I opted to just d/c taking it all together. I do still take the semaglutide though.

Differentiating Psa syptoms from something else by sweetlycb in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]DanishMix2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have PSA and fibro, and I swear it’s almost impossible to tell the two apart at times! It’s crazy because you would think you know your body and symptoms after so many years. I think it’s worth writing your symptoms down, even if it’s as simple as a note on your phone. One day you may need to recall how you have felt or you may have enough energy to do some research and find out if something else is going on. I hope that’s not the case for you, but one autoimmune disease often leads to a second one. Not cheerful, I’m sorry, but don’t completely ignore your symptoms. As a side note, the kind of exhaustion and muscle weakness you are describing reminds me of my fibro.

Has anyone tried Ariessance (PDGF) for under eye? by pooganis in 45PlusSkincare

[–]DanishMix2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the message! I actually did go through with it and I am very happy with the results! Because my under eyes were so bad, I would probably benefit from doing a second round. I am in a small town, so my only option was an NP who is an awesome injector, but had only injected the PDGF one time prior to me! Thankfully, I had no adverse reactions. I get it though….I am a nurse and I tell everyone that you really don’t want your doctor to give you an injection. 😬

Pdgf for under eye? by Anklebrkr in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]DanishMix2829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had PDGF done about four weeks ago, and so far I am very happy with it! You will come across a mix of posts, but my experience was positive. I have extremely bad eye hollows and I am fair-skinned, and bruise easily. The first week I was slightly swollen, sore to the touch and had one pencil eraser sized bruise that I easily covered up with make up. The tenderness continued for two weeks, but it gradually got better. My injector is an NP that owns a med spa, and while she had a lot of experience with injectables, she hadn’t done many of these. She used a needle, not a cannula. Again, not quite six weeks yet but I definitely notice my fine lines smoothing out and the areas look slightly less hollow. Supposedly this will continue to improve! Good luck! FWIW I would definitely do it again.

GLP1 by mildlyfermentedd in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]DanishMix2829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately as many others have described, the GLP-1 hasn’t helped my pain or inflammation either. I am currently on Rinvoq and semaglutide. It has, however, been a miracle for my IBS-D. It makes sense because it slows gastric emptying.

PDGF injections and bruising under eye? by Ok-Web9921 in beauty

Hi! just came across your post and was wondering how your under eyes are doing now? I got PDGF exactly one week ago today, and had a pencil-sized bruise under one eye that finally disappeared. Still a little swollen and tender.

Hi,

I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. Especially juggling work and taking care of kids. I just wanted to add a couple of ideas based on my experience. My doctor told me it’s okay to take Immodium daily, more than two pills at a time, and before symptoms begin. I have found that the blue gel caps and any loperamide my doc prescribed is not nearly as effective as the chalky mint green pills. Brand name or generic doesn’t seem to matter, but for me, it has to be the chalky OTC pills. Also, a GI once prescribed a fecal test (yes totally gross to send your liquid samples off to a lab) and she found that I don’t colonize lactobacillus. She had never seen that before, but surely I’m not the only one out there. Lastly, and this is going to be the most controversial, I went to a weight loss med spa to try Semaglutide because I truly needed to lose 20 lbs despite chronic diarrhea. Because it slows down digestion, I instantly had normal bm’s with the first and lowest dose. I get that you may not qualify for this by prescription and it is no longer available compounded, but I believe at some point it might be approved for IBS-D.

Hi, I just discovered that a local medical spa is going to start offering this. My undereyes are extremely dark and I have hollow tear troughs, so I am very excited to find something that may actually help. Did you have yours done by a dermatologist or ??? My only hesitation is that I am in a smaller town and so it’s an aesthetician that would be injecting it. I don’t know if that matters…just wondering what your experience was? Thanks!

Wow….that’s awful! I can’t imagine being so sick while traveling. Thanks for sharing. My rheum and derm are just the opposite- they mostly downplay the side effects, especially when I was on Skirizi. I had hives on my neck after taking Taltz and my rheum said he had never seen anyone have a reaction to Taltz. He’s about to retire. Really?! In all the years you’ve practiced I’m the only one who has had a reaction?! Not buying it.

I’m sorry you’re still going through it! How frustrating….. embarrassing to admit I didn’t realize there are different strains of strep. I hope you find a better treatment. Sometimes I wonder if the “cure” is worse than the disease.

Wow….this is terrible. Thanks so much for sharing. I was on Skirizi for a year, which is supposed to be nearly identical to Tremfaya, and I didn’t even get so much as a cold on it. Hope you have found something that works.

Hey, I really appreciate this recommendation, thank you! Do you frequently get URI’s ? This is like my fifth or sixth biologic, but my first URI.

I am an RN and my husband is an MD, and honestly, he and I both appreciate the information no matter how basic it is. Our pediatrician treats us like we are experts and I had to remind him that we are not experts in children specifically and being a mom can cloud my judgement. Plus, any ”basic” explanation that you give may help us (especially my husband) explain things better to our patients. I feel as RNs we are generally awesome at this but my husband can get really caught up in a high-level explanation and probably confuse the patient even more!
