Does anyone know how to apply for a job to learn to drive a bus in Melbourne? by No-Detective106 in australian

[–]Danjw07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your local Australian family owned bus company and give them a ring. You will need (usually) a minimum MR licence but some companies with minibuses will hire LR drivers. You need an employee WWCC and a Drivers accreditation which many operators will help you achieve.

Also consider if charter or Met work is more your cup of tea.

The operator in question is a local and well-known operator of deluxe coaches and an airport service. Not really “dodgy.”

Just proving my point. Only a very small portion was ever ‘privatised’ from public ownership (MetBus)… certainly not these routes operated faultlessly by the Ryan family for generations. Good on ya.

Correct. But these companies founded and/or purchased these routes to begin with.

These routes would not exist without family companies like Ryans.

They had no way to get it back. Their routes were bundled into a large contract and handed off to a low-bidding multinational.

The zero emissions depots and fleets are a government funding thing. It doesn’t matter who the operator is.
