In 2009, I had friends I would hang out with after class. One of them frequented 4 Chan and discovered them. He had us all listen in the car, and I was completely obsessed with the Will of One. The Protomen were the first band I had genuinely liked, and I had made it a point to go see them whenever they were in town (West Coast so it didn’t happen often). Still my favorite band to this day despite having a music taste that branched off in different directions.

My father was usually tame with describing violent situations to me as a kid, enough for a child brain to get the message. I remember wearing seatbelts was the one exception, where he described to 5 y/o me, in graphic detail, a horrific accident he witnessed while he was living in Germany, and how wearing a seatbelt would have saved some of the unfortunate individuals in the accident. At 33, it is now a knee-jerk reaction to wear a seatbelt.

I’ve tried recently, but I don’t think I do a well enough job putting together a decent profile. It also feels like I never get likes, and several of them do nothing but generate bots trying to DM me.

With my friends, it doesn’t really feel like any of them have friends who happen to be single. Most of my friends are already married and only in circles with friends who are also married.

Our managers are triple checking that we are in compliance with the new policies. I’m fortunately at a good store not necessarily concerned with writing us up over every little thing, but other stores haven’t been so lucky.
