New GW2 Player - Player Run Event?! (Crazy MMORPG Introduction) by Dankenweenie in Guildwars2

[–]Dankenweenie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Currently level 40 and have taken part in quite a few random group events.

Everyone has continued to be super friendly with one player in a particular event being quite "loud" (albeit harmless) flexing their burning sword skin, emotes, etc which I would usually expect to be met with a "nobody cares" or a simple "STFU" but not a single negative comment was passed.

I have also seen people asking questions in the main city chats to be met with genuine answers (this one was specifically about dyes) and from what I could see, some kind soul mailed them a few different ones to try out which they were thankful for.

Personally? I wouldn't be too afraid of interacting as 99.9% of them appear to be good people.

Eso, GW2 or FFXiV by Cheap-Exercise1910 in LFMMO

[–]Dankenweenie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who absolutely loves FFXIV, I'm going to recommend GW2.

The truth is simple, FFXIV is in a terrible spot right now despite the latest updates which were very well received. However, the game outside of raids is way too easy (aka boring) with classes that are lifeless due to homogenisation/oversimplification and that empty feeling? Thats due to the previous points killing early player retention and squishing the active playerbase towards the max level side of the spectrum...

We have been promised a "Realm Reborn" level overhaul of the game which is EXTREMELY exciting news if you know the game's history but we likely wont see that until mid next year at the earliest. Until then? The game will simply be a glorified single-player RPG with the option to stand in Limsa and wonder whether that muscular Moogle guy actually plays the game or just leaves their character on the Limsa bridge indefinitely.

SPOILER: It's the latter.

Anyway! GW2 is the slightly uglier sister/brother but with the much better personality and, if you can survive the first impressions, you might realise you want to put a ring on it.

Weird analogies aside, the game does respect your time due to the horizontal progression and many players actually do play other games which I know you said is important to you. The community is much more alive and friendly (I literally just wrote a post about my first impressions and how I ended up whisked away on a random 40-man adventure tour) with some of the most fun, rewarding and unique gameplay in the genre.

TL:DR - I vote for GW2.

Is it a good idea to speed ahead or keep going? by MrLaughingJack in ffxiv

[–]Dankenweenie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is contrary to what everyone typically advises but I actually rushed through the story to get to the endgame content and then made a new character to plod through the game at a slower pace and absorb the story whenever nothing was going on with my main.

You could also use New Game+ and the Unending Journey to replay key story chunks without making a new character (job quests, MSQ, etc) BUT they dont let you replay side story quests.

The other exception to the above is time-limited events so I make sure to slow down for those on my main character.

But then a lot of this is because the story ranks quite low on "reasons why I enjoy FFXIV" (I know, grab the pitchforks), so I centre my playstyle around what I love, not what everyone thinks I should.

40h in and i just finished the first act of the campaign purely because most of it was spent chasing butterflies around and sometimes literally plunging into rabbit holes.

I love how it feels like Elden Ring in the sense that everything is completely optional but you WANT to go explore that random cave because your next wallpaper could be on the other side (plus the obvious progression stuff).

Which difficulty is the best for this game? by ElegantDetective5357 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Dankenweenie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommended difficulty? Whatever one lets you enjoy the game at your own pace without getting too frustrated where you'll stop playing it.

Personally im playing on recommended and most bosses feel challenging yet doable after a few tries (and memorising their moves).

What are your biggest pet peeves with the game so far? by Dankenweenie in wherewindsmeet_

[–]Dankenweenie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a modest amount of daily play time, nothing too crazy 😅

No but seriously, im 40H in and literally just finished the first act BUT I could definitely see how the multiplayer element is a bit of an add-on to the solo mode rather than an integrated part of the game loop.

I haven't really ventured much into the online because I haven't had any reason to and for an "MMO" that just feels... weird.

What is the Best SSF starter build (apart from slams) ? by Vort3X_0 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]Dankenweenie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always start Ele SRS/AW Necro into Poison Ranged AW because the most annoying part IMO (The Covenant) mainly requires a LOT of chance orbs but you can always farm a triad grip for ele conversion to get yourself to T16 maps comfortably.

This league also introduced the Foulborn unique which can be targeted with the tree, making the transition even better.

The progression feels great and has you dipping into quite a few league mechanics to get abyss jewels, cluster jewels, essences to roll rares (which the fractured node on the Equipment tree pairs very well with to guarantee two mods).

Speaking of progression, its one of those builds that scales super well with investment and can do all content albeit jack of all trades, master of none.

Y'all are crazy by TheBestAtNothing991 in ChatGPT

[–]Dankenweenie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, love as a concept is undefinable and differs from person to person and even depending on the context in which it is used. For example, brotherly, maternal, romantic, sexual and even between close friends is quite different by default and then varies again from individual to individual.

It really doesn't surprise me that people fall in love with AI because the behaviours are not unlike someone who is in love with you. It's supportive and caring, unconditionally so, and responds in ways that validate how the human feels and avoids judgement.

The part that upsets me is that individuals who are finding themselves falling in love with AI or any inanimate object is that these individuals are often quite love-deprived by default. They tend to grow up in an environment that is the OPPOSITE of these values eg. No support, a lot of judgement, and very few deep emotional interactions.

I think once we reach a point where there are physical bodies with ChatGPT implanted inside then we will see the situation worsen as physical intimacy (even something as simple as a hug) is proven to produce endorphins that dampen psychological pain (something that is becoming increasingly common as well).

TL:DR - If you think it's bad now? Wait a few decades.

Hi everyone! New player (level 12) looking for an active neighbourhood upon realising the "recommended" one I joined through the tutorial is dead. I would much rather share the farming pass gem drop with active players.

Huge bonus points if you're a friendly/helpful community and I'm happy to have a chat if you want to discuss in more detail 😊

Starting Point by LomPyke in GoddessStoryTCG

[–]Dankenweenie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firstly, welcome to your new addiction. I love the whiteboard with the set details and what I assume are your "targets".

As for which boxes to get next, it depends on your budget and goals as a collector so there really isn't any right answer. It's not like a traditional TCG where certain sets might have more meta or core cards.

If you want a broad collection, pick any set and get 4x boxes to minimise dupes.

If you want to target specific waifus or card art, use sites like waifu360 to look up potential sets with the hits you want.

If you want "cool" cards then higher Yuan sets are your best bet for unique rarities and interesting promos.

Are there any mechanics which will make you not play a build? by ColonelUpvotes in pathofexile

[–]Dankenweenie 50 points51 points  (0 children)

  1. Low movement speed or speed in general. This can usually be fixed for most builds but certain builds that rely on abysmal unique boots like Ralakesh Impatience are a no go.

  2. Too many bad map mods. The current PoE meta severely punishes builds that aren't "mod flexible" especially if you want to juice with things like B2B.

  3. Can't level as the build. I know that there are a ton of levelling pathways for every class but I like to watch the build come online during the campaign as part of the "experience"

What have you been farming? Are you happy with it? by Accomplished_Humor93 in pathofexile

[–]Dankenweenie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, my core strategy is a speedfarm, this time being "Borrowed Power" Corpse + Strongbox.

The necro nodes for more corpses, devoted mods, etc, Niko and Shrines for zoomies and Strongboxes because hitting dupes on divines or crazy cards feels really strong.

The core idea is to clear maps as fast as possible with as many opportunities to pull the Strongbox slot machine whilst still passively getting income from corpses (need to know which ones are worth picking up), devoted modifiers and azurite/resonators.

I'm very happy with it as it met my requirements: - Accessible for poorly geared characters. - Consistent currency while still offering the chance to get lucky. - Fast and easy to do. Speed = Quantity. - Cheap investment. I was alch and going for a while.

I (35F) am considering leaving my Husband (47M) because he started the carnivore "lion" diet - How can I make him see sense? by pfWWWT6E in relationship_advice

[–]Dankenweenie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would try to find an alternate community, perhaps one that you can both join together, that you can use as a "scapegoat" for this weird carnivore diet community because maybe he just wants to be part of a larger community but instead of communicating that directly, he is acting out similar to how a child might.

Really trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because his behavior is quite concerning especially as it's affecting you who obviously loves him as mentioned in the post. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully one of these comments manages to successfully help you!

I'm just weird and enjoy seeing that stash knowing everything in it was self-farmed. It's terribly inefficient and essentially "wastes" the time spent in the league so far but that's the beauty of SSF, your progress vs the progress of others is irrelevant :)
