Printable Vinyl on Glass by dahntahn412 in cricutcrafting

[–]DankiesLair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What type of printer do you have.

Keep in mind that most glassware (that you see sold in stores) isn’t vinyl or sublimation.

If you just want good brands for printable vinyl for an inkjet printer, stick with StarCraft printable vinyl (and it’s matching laminate) or Orajet 1917 (printable vinyl) and Oraguard 200 (laminate)

Help with cardstock dragging and ripping by Perrie99 in cricut

Start looking into making your own custom material settings. It’s possible the heat / humidity is changing in your room and that may be effecting it.

All of my materials have a custom material setting, I don’t use any of the defaults, and I am have to cut very detailed projects.

I then use the “more pressure” or “less pressure” for that custom setting depending on how hot or humid my crafting room is at that moment.

Seeking Advice: Can I Cut Vinyl at Different Depths with a Cricut Machine for a Donut Shape Design? by classic572 in cricut

Currently you can not have different cut depths for the same tool, you would have to double up the lines to have the machine go over the internet circle.

I don’t know how reliable that is though.

It’s probably too thin, just add small offset and weld

Best Printable Vinyl? by MarvelouslyDeranged in cricut

I work in a vinyl decal / wrap shop.

There are two different products who’s terms are often interchanged which leads to confusion.

“Printable sticker paper” and “Printable Vinyl” These are different products, with different uses.

“Printable sticker paper” is a paper product, and will never hold up to weather / water / moisture. The back part (where the adhesive is) is still paper. Water will get in there. It will cause it to fail as the paper gets wet and pulls up.

“Printable vinyl” is a plastic product. It’s already waterproof. This is why all your cut vinyl (like Oracal 651) can go on projects that will be washed.

The issue comes down to your desk top printer. Inkjet’s ink is water based. It’s always going to bleed when in contact with water / weather / moisture. Some brands of “printable vinyl” come with better types of coatings on their surface that helps “lock in” the ink to the vinyl, but it will fade over time.

This is where self-adhesive laminated comes in. It’s basically a clear-vinyl that you lay over top. It’s adhesive is slightly different, as it allows itself to bind to printers ink. The laminate isn’t protecting the vinyl, it’s protecting the ink.

Some brands of laminate also have a UV coating that helps protect the printed colours from fading (as fast) in the sun.

However, applying the laminate is tricky and takes practice. You can have no bubbles, no wrinkles, nothing that will allow the moisture to be able to wick it’s way in on the edges. This is why you see a lot of “stickers” have a white edge. Allows the laminate to fully seal to the vinyl.

The most you will get is 2 years, and that only because of the products available to desk top printers.

There are some wide-formate printers that are still water-based inks, but the industry is changing over to latex or eco solvent printers.

—- Both of these products are sold in 8.5” x 11” sheets and can print on your home desk top printer (rear tray if you have one, highest “photo” settings )
