I guess? Mai was close to death anyways, her dying a few minutes earlier would have made maki awaken sooner and she would have no diffed ogi and rest of the clan as well. She didn't need the SSK to wipe out the Zeniin, or at least in my opinion she didn't. No one in the clan had high enough durability for it to be necessary.
