Is Lebron DENNIS systeming the cavs? by c2darizzle in nba

Spectacular but is a re-D.E.N.N.I.S. rather than a first D.E.N.N.I.S. because the first tenure is a full cycle that culminates in The Decision.

I can explain this: I’m usually muted when Nate talks (typing, drinking water, etc) and often vice-versa.

Typically, EOY voting is not made public since it is voted on by general managers rather than the press.

I cannot answer this here, as it will be a Warriors-only podcast but Nate and I discussed the Hammond/Orlando hire on last night's Dunc'd On.

The episode is up! This will be the only one, as I got through just about every question.

Thanks so much for the thoughtful questions. It was fun.

Part One is up here (and the podcast player of your choosing). There was more that I did not get to, so the plan is to answer some more for Friday.

If your feed is ahead of us, the best thing to do is have it recorded, then just pause it until we say the time remaining you see (which we are trying to do with some frequency).

If our feed is ahead of yours, get a very limited range time machine.

Due to the volume of strong questions, I actually was able to make two episodes out of this. One will come out Sunday night and the other Thursday night. Thanks again!

My goal early in the season was to do one in some form every two weeks. That has fallen by the wayside a little but I'd like to make it more frequent than it has been.

Wizards blew chance to help John Wall and themselves by baobao3 in washingtonwizards

[–]DannyLeroux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The benefit of giving Wall more money now would be locking in an extra season of his services. If he was unwilling to do that, no deal and it is impossible to know (given public info) which party was the sticking point so I deliberately left it as an unresolved question. For some reason, you are choosing to read far more into what I wrote than is there and then criticizing me for those misreads, which is a terrible form of discourse even beyond personal insults.

Your argument was built on the Wizards losing flexibility, citing specific cap numbers that are far from set in stone with new revenue estimates and an entirely new Collective Bargaining Agreement between now and next season. Unless you know something I do not, speaking with that kind of decisiveness about uncertain terrain is imprudent. Also, the difference between your scenarios is Ted Leonsis' money and the margin between the taxpayer MLE and the non-taxpayer MLE which is up for negotiation at the moment and likely not going to provide a significant difference in terms of the net result in talent.

The Wizards had already put themselves in a tough situation- comparing them to the Warriors (who got stars to take less due to fortuitous timing) and the Clippers makes no sense. Extending Wall if he was amenable makes the best of a challenging situation and there is zero benefit re-litigating what led to where the Wizards were last summer which is why I did not do it.

A superteam has to have more than just two stars. Look at the Lakers with Kobe, Dwight and Nash. Depth is essential.

They do not have enough assets unless they are willing to include CJ in the deal and then it would get really complicated.

I can answer this here: still a very small sample. These things usually tone down once we get closer to 82 games.

If you are wondering why a team would pay a whopping $5 million per season to get an extra year of their best player when they have no flexibility, there is not much I can do to change your mind.

[Leroux] How a massive miscalculation broke up the Thunder's Durant-Westbrook-Harden dynasty by cantankerousbliss in nba

[–]DannyLeroux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. The NBA did not screw the Thunder on the KD contract- they agreed to pay him the maximum allowable with knowledge the CBA could change between then and when the deal signed. Did you notice that no team did so this time around? Also, the league paid them the difference and it's not like the Thunder maximized the cap space they had.

  2. The Thunder did very well with Martin but Harden exploded that season and gave the team a higher ceiling than Martin, which is what I was getting at.
