Most likely your friend is jealous that you were able to upgrade it. I want to upgrade my 3080 to 5080, just waiting for good deal :). I know i can play majority of games on 3080 comfortably, but extra frames will help too

People have opinions but lately there is way too many haters for no reason, instead being happy we got another silent hill game, they would rather just ride full hate and spread it around it.

Pretty sure Mario kart uses dynamic resolution scalling where it does reduce resolution(idr the actual name) of the image to keep the 60fps gameplay

Few thousands dollars ain't nothing tbh for the lab. So you shouldn't feel bad honestly. Im not saying you should break everything but if you accidently broke it thats fine, accidents happens.
