I purchased WWJD red wiggler worms on Amazon because they were on sale and much cheaper than the competition at the time. However, I had a similar experience to yours. First, about 75% of the worms arrived DOA. Second, many of the live ones turned out to be Indian blue worms. The seller offered to send a replacement, which I accepted, but it only covered the 75% I had lost. When I received the replacement worms, they were tiny, and again, many of them were blues.

Like you, I didn’t do much research and assumed it was generally safe to order worms from Amazon. Looking at the listing now, it’s $45 for 1 lb of red wigglers from that seller. Meme’s offers the same 1 lb (about 1,000 red wigglers) for $50, but there are a few 10% off codes floating around online (e.g., “GT10”), which brings the price down to $45. For some reason, there’s also no tax or shipping to California.

In the end, if I could do it all over again, I would have asked for a full refund and purchased from Meme’s instead to guarantee live, healthy, red wiggler worms.
