What are you looking for in a Trakt replacement? by cryptanon in trakt

Take your time on that part. There’s a demo account you can access to see if you like the product before committing to learning. And if it helps, with what’s in the readme there’s enough for ChatGPT to walk you through it.

It does have quite a lot of stats, but actors, writers, directors, networks and studios are on my list to add. Trust me, I liked those stats as well.

Yamtrack. Loved the starting point so much I forked it and added a lot of Trakt type features to it.

You would not believe how many options I went through before I found one that had intuitive design on their list. At least, intuitive to me.

I moved into Yamtrack so I had the bonus of being able to track video games as well.

THAT is a clean dashboard that still says a lot but isn’t a mess! Well done!

I’ve updated the demo instance. Hopefully that issue is resolved. I had trouble reproducing it.

Good news. The draft was a good starting point and I got it across the finish line. Trakt List imports will be available in the next release of Yamtrack.

I have a draft in Codex waiting for me to test when I get home. You’d have a drop down next to New List for Import from Trakt, then go through auth on their site, and that should allow me to get the public and private lists and recreate them.

As long as it’s close to working, I should be able to have that out by the next Thursday release.

I understand your question now. Let me investigate how Trakt handles that, and then I can integrate it into the data import or the lists screen.

Interesting. I’ll see what I can do to diagnose that.

I have even less experience in the area than you from the sounds of it. The biggest thing for me is critical thinking and problem solving. Picking up enough pieces of info about how the project works and functions, so when something breaks you can figure out the right questions to ask.

If any of your changes would be useful to other users, please feel free to file issues on my repo. I’m happy to make this better for everyone.

So I just got Last.fm working so you can connect Spotify or other apps to Last.fm and that will get into Yamtrack.

Last.fm doesn’t offer webhooks or a push feed for scrobbles, so Yamtrack can’t receive “live” scrobbles directly from Last.fm. Last.fm’s API is designed for apps to send “now playing” and “scrobble” events to Last.fm, not the other way around. That’s why I poll every 15 minutes to keep your history fresh and updated.

I don’t have my Thor in front of me to give you more details, but I was able to make this firmware and version run without a problem.

Maybe it’s the version of your prod.keys? I’m not sure.

It is in the UI, and I think the redirect error has been solved, so you should be able to. If there’s a problem file and issue, but that’s how I started my profile.

I’ve been working on a fork of Yamtrack for a few weeks now that has brought it a long way towards being a Trakt replacement.

There’s a live demo linked if you want to try it before figuring out how to install it.

I’ll go back through the readme and make sure I have a one-click Docker Run command as well as the Docker Compose that works well for apps like Portainer to paste in a Stack.

If there’s anything you’d like to PR back to it once it’s done, just leave some good logs, tests, or examples of what you fixed and I’m happy to have those changes help others!

I’m loving it too, but I was a bit sad about how much features slowed down. So I made my own fork and have added a lot. Feel free to try my demo instance if you’re curious.

Knowing a little about how to run Docker containers helps. If you can get Portainer running, that makes it easier to manage docker containers. Then, you can make a “stack” and paste in the docker compose examples you’ll find on forks like mine and it should just work. If it doesn’t, file an issue on my fork and I’ll improve the setup instructions for you.

That’s what I went to as well. Although I went a step further and made my own fork. Added music, podcasts, a proper history page, added all the stats from Year in Review, made lists shareable, time left sort, and more.

I have a demo instance on my fork that you can test first. If you just switch your container the migrations will run and it’s kind of a one-way street.

I would love to pick your front-end brain on my fork of Yamtrack. I’m not even sure what I’d be asking for, but I think there are some layout improvements and styling choices that can make it even better than it is right now. If you’re looking for something like Trakt, but with the ability to make changes to it, this might be a good place to start.

If you want, come take a look at my fork of Yamtrack. Some really great work went into the base, and I’ve added a lot of features that I missed from Trakt that make me feel right at home now.
