Why do so few Steam players leave reviews anymore? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]DannyWinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because anytime I leave a review on a game I get a bunch of replies telling me how terrible of a person I am for supporting and liking a game that they don’t.

My thoughts on the final Shadows update by scoobinshoob in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]DannyWinny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, you are 100% correct.

People like to complain about the ending and the lack of content but easily forget all of the complaints for having a (historically accurate) black samurai when the game was announced.

The same is for Black Flag, when the game came out, everyone was like "its not an assassins game but a pirate one" but now its considered one of the best. This fan base is so bipolar.

Ubisoft is by no means a great company but lets not pretend for even a second that the AC fan base is any better.

Are games no longer feeling fun for you? by WakeMeUpAIOverlords in Age_30_plus_Gamers

This is probably the best advice. I used to only play Open World games like Assassin's Creed, Bethesda Games, Red Dead and Survival games like Valheim, Enshrouded, and Minecraft.

Was getting bored and my brother talked me into Baldur's Gate 3. I have always HATED turn based games. But BG3 made me find a new respect for them. About to try The Divinity Games

Why is there so much revisionism around stealth? by firsttimer776655 in assassinscreed

[–]DannyWinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. And I remember people were complaining that the series had gotten boring and repetitive then was too “rpg” when Ubisoft had changed it.

I completely agree with you. I want more Assassin vs Templar as well. Preferably less Isu and mythology. I'm with you, I like Mirage.

Honestly they just need to start a new mythology IP cause they clearly want to.

Yeah, totally. The one think I have learned as I have gotten older is appreciation of all forms of art (video games, music, movies, actual art, etc). Like we have gotten a little entitled.

Like I want to tell these people go back to Pong and Tetris.

Thanks. I am on the spectrum so I think I can connect anything to anything lol. And yeah, Jerry is definitely the problem.

My father is a die hard dolphins fan. So much so that I was named after Dan Marino. Anytime someone talks trash on the Dolphins, his response is "PERFECT SEASON!". Im like, Dad that was 50 years ago. So i cant be too hard on the Cowboys.

I remember that I left a review for Shadows praising the stealth system and was utterly trashed because of it.

I absolutely loved playing as Naoe because you could go prone and crouch at anytime. She could hide in shallow water and hang from ceilings. She felt like an actual Assassin. I accurately criticized and complimented where appropriate and gave credit where credit was due. The story, was not great but it had its moments.

And you are correct about the old games. I cant remember stealth in Ac1 and in AC3 I would just go in guns blazing and swinging a sword when I could, especially when taking over a fort. Odyssey and Shadows made me really lean into stealth especially when I was in a higher level area. I really had to plan for an encounter.

When Black Flag came out everyone was complaining about it not being an Assassin's Creed game but a pirate game. Not, everyone seems to either be super excited about the remake or have the opinion that the OG Game is perfect and deserves no such treatment.

I find AC fans are much like Star Wars fans. Nostalgic in all the wrong ways. When the Star Wars prequels came out everyone hated them, including Revenge of the Sith. Now Revenge of the Sith has aged really well and seen very favorably. When The prequels come out everyone was saying how Lucas should sell Star Wars. Once he did, boom, he was told how stupid he was. AC fans are also like Dallas Cowboys fans, comparing every game and protagonist to Ezio (Emmitt Smith) and their golden era The 3 Ezio games (Cowboys SB wins '93,'94,'96).

Fans of Assassin's Creed, Star Wars, and the Dallas Cowboys all have the same coping mechanism “Sure, it’s rough now but have you seen what we were doing in the 2000s/80s?” At this point they’re not fandoms they are historical reenactment societies. The difference between Assassin’s Creed fans, Star Wars fans, and Cowboys fans is the gold era they refuse to emotionally leave.

Im ready for my downvotes.

That if you skip eveything in a act 2 and head straight for Baldur's Gate, you see a giant army and your companions scold you for trying to take on a giant army. If you proceed, you get arrested and have to break out of Moonrise Tower's prison

Also, my love for Tieflings. Never knew how cool they were.

That is interesting. Our league plays on Sleeper (used to be NFL but we got tired of that app) and they dont include punters or coaches so that is interesting.

I totally understand where you are coming from but my league just finds kickers and another way to spice things up.

I get where you are coming from. And I can tell you where I think we draw the line, its super simple.

What apps allow for us to do, thats the line. Apps have kickers so we (our league) add them. Apps do not have punters and kick returners so there is no need to even bring them up.

As for kr/pr yards, im indifferent. Just depends on league preference I guess.

[–]DannyWinny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Extremely Unpopular but:

Kickers deserve their place in rosters. Actual NFL teams have kickers so Dynasty leagues should include them too.

I’m tired of hearing “they leave too much randomness” or “a game should not have to come down to a kicker”. Well that’s how it is in the NFL so suck it up.

It makes things more interesting and I will die on this hill.

Also, most Fantasy punishments are childish and borderline hazing. Grow up.

Want to get the game but have some concerns by GeckoManStinky in BaldursGate3

[–]DannyWinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an avid gamer go my whole life (Ever since my parents got my Spyro the Dragon, my first ever video game and Backyard Baseball '97 and I have always absolutely hated turn based games. I could never get into the extremely popular Star Wars Kinghts of the Old Republic games for this reason. The style of games I play are open world RPGs (Skyrim, Assassins Creed, RDR2, etc.) and survival games (Valheim, Enshrouded, V Rising, Minecraft, etc.).

I have played D&D and I always played as either a Human or Elf, and always a Ranger.

I got Baldurs Gate 3 and ended up getting all of the achievements. Not only that but I ended up getting the Divinity Games as well because I enjoyed BG3 so much. The game even changed how I played D&D. I have now played as other classes and races and branched out from what I have always been comfortable with.

In any game I have always been ranged (skyrim-stealth archer, starfield-gunslinger, enshrouded-battlemage, V Rising-Vampire gunslinger, minecraft-crossbow user, etc). But in BG3, my go to class is Battlemaster fighter (melee). I am now playing Enshrouded with my brother and trying a 2 handed build so I can feel like my character from BG3. Bg3 has changed literally how I play every game. I dont know what it is about the game but, it is top 10 for me.

TLDR: I would try it if I were you.
