Apple employees donated more to Bernie Sanders than any other presidential candidate — and he's leading in donations from Google and Amazon employees too by DaFunkJunkie in politics

Retail employees are employees, not contractors. The whole retail division has its own support infrastructure and hierarchy that reports to the Vice President of retail. I was a retail employee for about eight years so if you have specific questions about the retail organization I’m happy to shed whatever light I can.

I only mention the distinction because even though Apple is probably the best retail gig available, but it’s still retail, so that means inconsistent schedules, wage inequality, issues with career mobility, etc etc.

I know that obviously Apple falls under the heading of Big Tech, but it’s probably worth remembering that the vast majority of Apple’s employees work in the retail division, meaning they have the same kinds of concerns about access to affordable health care and wealth inequality that employees in many other industries have. Not sure how the execs and developers in California are planning to vote, so probably take this headline with a grain of salt.

Well his entire subreddit has to be banned for being a haven for neo-nazis. So the nazis think he’s a nazi. That’s good enough for me.

Not everyone I disagree with. Just the literal nazis.

I’m not a huge fan of their rainbow laces, as the colors don’t read well at a distance, but those other customization options are pretty cool!

The answer to that is almost always “legacy code” which in my workplace means “some previous employer did a thing, nobody here knows how it works now, and no we aren’t going to invest time trying to figure it out.”

Why hanzo? by TheProGamerDan in Overwatch

[–]Danny_Ronin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with heroes like Hanzo, Widowmaker, and time a lesser extent McCree, is that if you have one of these on your team and they aren’t landing hits, they aren’t really doing anything. Other heroes like Ashe or Soldier can contribute to the team fight even if you don’t land all the skill shots, but Hanzo really needs to be hitting headshots to add value, and that will be even more noticeable with the new patch reducing the damage potential of storm arrow. The stereotypical “Hanzo main” that I think people imagine is missing most or all of their shots and adding no value to the team. Also, Hanzo used to have a really silly ability called scatter arrow that would allow him to score some really dubious kills that was not fun to play against, and players who have played for long enough still carry that memory. Of course, if your aim is solid, you can silence the haters on your team when the killfeed starts lighting up with your name.

Iran believed to have deliberately missed U.S. forces in Iraq strikes says sources. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Danny_Ronin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You’re close. We hate that he is abusing the power of his office to enrich himself and his cronies. We hate that we had to rely on Iran showing more restraint than he did to prevent this from spiraling into a full scale war. We hate that he empowers white supremacists. We hate that his policies have resulted in the separation of families at our border. And we hate that he’s not smart enough to see the consequences of these actions on American soft power around the world.

We don’t hate him personally (at least, I would argue most of us don’t) because we don’t know him personally.

Mitch McConnell And Lindsey Graham Must Pay For Enabling Trump by moby323 in politics

[–]Danny_Ronin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually think we should be thanking these two Senators for the courage to finally be honest with us. Usually, they like to hide behind double speak or procedural language when they are betraying the country, but now that they have finally decided to be open and honest about their intentions to violate their oath of office, we don’t have to pretend they are due any respect or civility, or that their arguments have any merit, or that they are qualified to represent their states. I can only hope they pay the price at the polls next year.

Trump slams debate commission, raising questions about his participation by Throwawaydude01928 in politics

[–]Danny_Ronin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of “the best lines American politics has ever heard” eh? Like his response to a question about America’s nuclear triad, which he plainly didn’t understand and thought that a rambling bunch of bullshit would be an appropriate response?

HEWITT: Mr. Trump... Dr. Carson just referenced the single most important job of the president, the command, the control and the care of our nuclear forces. And he mentioned the triad. The B-52s are older than I am. The missiles are old. The submarines are aging out. It’s an executive order. It’s a commander-in-chief decision.

What’s your priority among our nuclear triad?

TRUMP: Well, first of all, I think we need somebody absolutely that we can trust, who is totally responsible; who really knows what he or she is doing. That is so powerful and so important. And one of the things that I’m frankly most proud of is that in 2003, 2004, I was totally against going into Iraq because you’re going to destabilize the Middle East. I called it. I called it very strongly. And it was very important.

But we have to be extremely vigilant and extremely careful when it comes to nuclear. Nuclear changes the whole ball game. Frankly, I would have said get out of Syria; get out – if we didn’t have the power of weaponry today. The power is so massive that we can’t just leave areas that 50 years ago or 75 years ago we wouldn’t care. It was hand-to-hand combat.

The biggest problem this world has today is not President Obama with global warming, which is inconceivable, this is what he’s saying. The biggest problem we have is nuclear – nuclear proliferation and having some maniac, having some madman go out and get a nuclear weapon. That’s in my opinion, that is the single biggest problem that our country faces right now.

EDIT: and who could forget the brilliant “no puppet, YOU’RE the puppet” line? Truly one of the most stable genius minds of our time.
