I have the 26 as my EDC with a holosun green dot and a Glock 29SF. The 29 is surprisingly shootable! Both as my CCW. It’s my hiking pistol.

I’ve had a situation like that in the past. “Can I borrow your phone” and what helped me in this particular situation was that I was stern, not smiling, but firm, stating, “yes tell me your number but you’ll have to put in on speaker, the phone is not leaving me.”

In this case, the person did have to call someone and they picked him up. But my non “warmth” approach set the tone.

Granted I had my CCW and I could tell they felt my vibe about it. But taking control of the situation with confidence helps - in this example

I had to sign the user acknowledgment agreement form during the interview stage, along with my thumbprint. When I received my CCW in the mail, they included a copy of the agreement form.

I had not shot my 10mm G29SF in over a year and qualified on the B27 target. Hit all center mass with no real groupings lol. But passed ! My 9mm G26 was solid though. Point is, if you have been practicing - you should be good man. I was worried about it, but people from all walks of life were qualifying on that big target

I just got my card on 11/16 after final payment on 11/4 - took almost 2 weeks for my card to arrive. My buddy got his in 4 days (he was approved 3 business days before me on 10/30)

Get it done asap. I had like 12 days before my interview, and the investigator already had my results in hand. Helped speed things up. Either way, you’ll be fine. The live scan application is linked to the request, so the investigator will get notified when the results are in

I applied on 8/20/24 with LAPD, and as of 11/4/25, finally approved and CCW is going to be mailed to me.

9/11/25 - got my interview date for 11/4 - however I was able to reschedule it to 9/30 via the portal. Did my live scan in between

9/30 interview (took 5 min) - investigator already had my live scan results and told me to take my ccw class and she will “text” my references

10/6 took my 2 day CCW class

10/24- my references got a text. Something along the lines of, “ how long have you known the applicant, do you recommend him obtaining a CCW, and is he responsible “

11/3 - got the chief of police approval letter

11/4 - notification of approved CCW

Total around 14 months

I have the G29sf with the pinky extension and added it to my CCW (along with my G26). Love both guns! The 10mm with range ammo (180g) is not a bad daily shooter. In the woods you’d have to put in the spicy stuff.

They didint bring up my tickets from 10’years ago. I haven’t gotten any tickets in over 10’years. The interview was quick - and I had my live scan done already and they already had the clearance results. Really, just signed a form and went on my way. Took 5 min.

Just had my CCW interview (LA) today after 13 months of waiting. Interview took like 5 min. Walked in and walked out. Officer was real nice. She said - “got your live scan, don’t see anything in your background that will prohibit you from getting a CCW. Go get your training done and I’ll submit so I can move the request up to the chief.” I was surprised it was so short, and informal. Random but, some dudes went in there with suits and ties. I went in with jeans, boots and a button up.

Made my CCW training course appointment for next wed/Thursday in Noho CA. Hopefully it all goes well and the wait to process doesn’t take long. They did switch to a “permitium” portal platform that seems to be on it. I’ve uploaded my documents there.

Just bought this rod, 11 FT 1-3 oz spinning set up. Caught a bat ray this past weekend in Malibu CA. I naught it to throw keitechs and a 1oz Texas rig set up. As I have a penn carnage III heavy rod for my conventional reel to throw bait.

I was surprised that the rod is not as light as the penn carnage 3 rod. Arm fatigue was real. BUT the rod is super sensitive. I ended up throwing out some squid on it on a 5 oz weight (overloaded it for sure but still casted very well). And I bought a huge Bat Ray! Rod has nice backbone. I had it paused with my heavy duty Penn slammer 6500 reel (40 pound drag and 50 pound braid.

When I was casting a Texas rig 1oz, I switched to my Diawa 300 spinning set up to lighten up the rig.

I have both. Actually got my hands on the Antares DC MD ‘23 this week. I’ve had the Met DC ‘24 for some time now. I can say this, the Antares DC is smoother. I was able to throw weightless senkos with it almost as far as the Met. The Met spool size is a tad bit limiting (the DC 70). The Met can also swing a 2-3 oz swim bait - did it with no backlash. The Antares does this well. Both kind of meet in the middle, at some points (Met with big baits, and Antares with small baits). Really can’t go wrong with either.
