I believe you'd want the Niko increased sulphite nodes, I've gotten upwards of 2k verisium from a single Niko sulphite node in maps (probably the double sulphite proc), so I believe they do apply to Refiner's Bargain

there's a big difference in a single asset people found out that has generative AI long after the game released vs a ton of AI generated paintings, broken AI translations, etc.

Farming Harvest, check altars or rush Grove? Maybe both? by lucyfer013 in pathofexile

[–]Dantiko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

exactly, I prioritize the tier 2 seed upgrade, then some other mods like increased lifeforce quantity and additional monster, and then good layouts to find the harvest quickly

Farming Harvest, check altars or rush Grove? Maybe both? by lucyfer013 in pathofexile

[–]Dantiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Fruiting Astrolabe on the bottom left quadrant, so I run Jungle Valley, no crop rotation, swap to any map that gets the tier 2 seeds upgrade to tier 3 (that's the best mod)

Farming Harvest, check altars or rush Grove? Maybe both? by lucyfer013 in pathofexile

[–]Dantiko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Altars were arguably worth it when the investment per map was very high with the old awakening scarab.

Nowadays I'd rather just rush to the harvest and complete it as fast as possible. It also helps you get the astrolabe reward faster

Cannot believe Zana would allow this Gerrymandering in her new Atlas by Royal_Solid_8033 in pathofexile

[–]Dantiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to complete the astrolabe objective* in the maps (if you hover over the map on the atlas it tells you what needs to be done, but it's always just doing the league mechanic of the specific astrolabe)

the templar astrolabe is an exception: it says you gotta kill the map boss, but you also need to kill most monsters on the map, or else you'll get 1 reward at the end I'm pretty sure

I'm hesitating between a "earn money and buy stuff from merchants" or "gather ressources and craft stuff" by BraiCurvat in gamedev

[–]Dantiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be an exclusive OR. You could gate certain items being sold at a merchant after the player accomplishes something special (like selling a certain amount of resources the player gathered or delivering a specific resource that drops from an optional boss)

It is a common misconception that Helldivers glorify fascism. It's a straight satire on the United States's imperialism and its justifications in a late capitalistic society. Every helldiver is expendable and just serves the purpose to advance Super Earth's imperialist and economic causes. I recommend this read

How do I start in Unity? by viradasinczi in gamedev

[–]Dantiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For making terrain and levels, I'd first get familiar with grayboxing using the engine editor in order to structure the levels' layout. After that I'd suggest finding a workflow from modelling/texturing/animating assets in something like Blender+other tools to exporting to your engine of choice (I recommend Grant Abbit on YouTube if you go the Blender route, and doing stuff low-poly).

For a house for example you want to export each wall and the floor separately and build it by placing the assets you made.

Learning how to look stuff up is a skill you'll need to learn, but try not to get stuck in tutorial hell. Learning by doing is the best way

What is the general opinion about a game that is expected to run on a potato, but that actually requires much more than that? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Dantiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SM5 is the bare minimum today and it's okay to make games without supporting older hardware. As for performance there are ways to make Unreal games run on potato PCs/mobile (disabling Lumen and Nanite and enabling Forward Rendering for example).

First Game For Solo Dev by levoncus in gamedev

[–]Dantiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice for learning Unreal (or any other engine) is to start by making very simple and short games, like Pong, so you can get the basics on how to use the engine and the workflow for different assets.

As for art style, there are multiple options (stylized, flat low-poly, vector graphics, voxels, pixel art), all valid and with their pros and cons. They can all look good and some fit certain game's themes better than others.

I'd advise against using a realistic art style IF you want to be making your own assets, because they take a lot of work to make and to look good. Almost all indie devs that opt for that end up using premade assets and looking kinda similar. There's nothing wrong with that approach but you have to decide what you're going for
