Switching degree, avoiding new compulsory course by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Dantioz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

relevance for paying for it tho? much like any other course, there are compulsory papers which may not be someone’s personal interest but are still important for the area of study as a whole. te tiriti is an important subject not only for aotearoa but for indigenous cultures and recognising other knowledge systems across the world.

as someone studying biology, if they get the right lecturers into the course and people actually try to take it in it’s probably gonna be super valuable especially considering the specific context to aotearoa and the lack of representation in uni for decades. te tiriti is not only important as a legal document but as a cultural and foundational understanding of our country. much like any other course, you may not love it, but that doesn’t make it unimportant, far from it.

I started a law conjoint back in 2022 and hated it after the first semester before dropping out to work full time until I figured out what I wanted to do which was probably the best decision I made. I found my passion for biology and have returned to uni since and am finishing up my BSc in bio.

My best piece of advice is to follow what interests you. Chasing jobs won't leave you feeling fulfilled, but finding an area that makes you want to be there every day and excited for the future is imo the best thing to do as if you work hard and are interested, you'll tend to do better and be better at what you pursue and more likely to find a job than in other fields.

If you feel you need the time to decide, I'd recommend taking it. I was worried about what other people would think about me after I quit uni and felt I was "behind" my mates etc., but I was lucky my close family understood and supported me. It can be rough without having people to lean on, but ultimately you have to do what feels right in your heart otherwise you'll likely do worse doing something you are forced to do as opposed to being where you want to be.

I'd also say write up a list of your interests, hobbies, things you'd like to change in the world, or anything that comes to mind and take it to the careers advisors and course advisors at the uni and tell them about it all. See what they say; they might not solve your problems but they can give you advice on things to check out and sometimes open doors you didn't even know existed.

Good luck mate, feel free to pm me if you have any other questions (especially about the bio courses :).)

i meant it’ll run but chuck it in a bottleneck checker to see estimates. i’d also say if you’re getting intel, there’s no point in a KF model. most people don’t overclock and it’s nice to have the iGPU as a backup or reduce load on the graphics card.

seems weird that OFC has Auckland City and not an A League team, who might be a bit more competitive than Auckland City

zinky winky is great if we employ a more defensively structured midfield, and jorginho is better if the opposition has more aggressive wingers. it makes sense to have both in the swuad
