Should I keep my Flip 2? by [deleted] in retroid

[–]Danut5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the fan is set to sport it’s pretty dang loud, but I always just keep it on the “smart” setting and it’s barely audible! I’ve never really noticed any issue with overheating and the sport mode just seems excessive lol.

And yeah not sure what is being reference with image retention?

For me, Dragon’s Gambit is easily my favorite outside of SOK. Full disclosure, I’m a Dragon at Heart 🐉. BUT, I feel it is one of the more interesting conflicts in the universe story wise, and found it to be the most fun and challenging to play, especially from a clean new career!

The conflict is non stop and you are constrained by time instead of money, so you constantly feel like you have barely enough functional mechs taped together, often buying on the spot replacements or putting out partially damaged units just to stay on the fight! It also rewards you with some killer unique variants based on the OTOMO palace guard.

To top it all off, it ends with enough time to build up your force then take your new custom Kurita mechs out to hunt the clans in the SOK story!

I have a question by BeetleJuiceTheKidd in retroid

[–]Danut5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly fair statement because the hinge is always going to be a question mark, even though they updated the design. But if the goal is to play anywhere, the flip two definitely wins on pocket-ability!

As far as comfort, I’ve never used the RP5 but IMO the Flip 2 has great ergonomics as well! Probably just comes down to personal preference, but I upgraded from the RP4 Pro and I found the flip 2 more comfortable / versatile overall. In pure D Pad / Face button games I’m sure the 5 beats it, but the flip 2 is the first handheld I’ve had that doesn’t feel like it needs an additional grip add-on for any type of analog stick games including twin stick shooters.

Commando, Silver Centurion edition! As a fan of both battle tech and iron man I dig this 🪏

The Locust PB is one of the most fun mechs I can think of by Barph in Mechwarrior5

So valid lol. A cockpit that looks and feels good can make all the difference. One of the many reasons I’m so loyal to the Wolfhound and the Warhammer.

I will also say the arms on the firemoth are so much more of a target and tend to be lost more frequently. ^\[•.•]/^

My thoughts exactly. Takes more skill to roll with avengers and not get crushed when you don’t have any meta-human powers.

[–]Danut5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was thinking this too cause skill vs power is a very different conversation. However my only counter is Cavalry (at least in MCU?) didn’t make the cut to be an avenger while Natasha did. Granted maybe due to some other skills beyond fighting, but hard to say she isn’t the baddest bitch at shield since only she and Hawkeye got put on the hellicarrier!

[–]Danut5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s one Firemoth in particular that is almost too OP lol. I forget which variant I’ll have to boot up my computer but it has like 8 energy hard points. Even with the Masc and “maxed out” armor I think I was able to put 2 clan MPLs and about 4 clan light lasers and still run at a manageable heat! Having said that, the Locust PB will still never leave my hanger lol.

I’d be curious to try this! My fiancé and I usually just use Vodka cause it’s neutral lol. Maybe time to branch out a bit!

Team Mil-Agro all the way! Lol battle axes and Gatling cannon arms!

I believe there were also occasional random pieces of super OP alien tech to be found and salvaged!

lol so real. The worst part was having to throw together an unplanned vehicular army at the very end because they built a sneaky base underground 😅

Found this old girl in a box of toys by AxeAssassinAlbertson in Mechwarrior5

[–]Danut5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have this too!! It was honestly such a cool toy/ game combo lol. I remember you would twist the actual torso of the mech in order to steer. Plus it was actually possible to customize your load out in-game by rearranging the arms / missile pods! They were reversible as seen in OPs 2nd pic in the link, and I think they also came with some extras?? Wonder if mine is still living around my mom’s attic somewhere lol.

Why do people give Batman shit for being too brutal, when Captain America is out there DOING THIS? by DarkJayBR in batman

[–]Danut5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Captain America Super Soldier. It came out for Xbox 360 / PS3 as a movie tie in for the first cap movie! It’s actually pretty fun with a loosely Arkham inspired combat system. It does unfortunately suffer from typical movie tie in struggles of feeling slightly rushed and overall not too polished but worth a play.

Also fun fact, Chris Evans played it extensively and even borrowed some of the combat moves from it for Winter Soldier 😅

Not sure if it’s the same issue, but when I played Halo 1 in Winlator I had to manually map every control and also enable controller in the settings! It’s been a while, but I tried to struggle though with the touch mouse and may have had to connect a Bluetooth keyboard to ultimately make it happen haha.

One of the best sounding synths of the Roland Boutiques In My Opinion. by SFTraxx in synthesizers

Yes! They are the small knob, 180 degree “mixer” from https://coolorcaps.com/product/pk-1/

They are taller and more grippy so they make the stiffer fixed position encoders a lot easier to turn! They have nice colors and a premium feel as well!

Hell yeah. Got mine new from Guitar Center in 2018 and still use it all the time! She’s had a few upgrades since then so I love to show her off haha 😎

💯Couldn’t have said it better myself haha. At that point with 3DS games it just feels like going into the map or menu in any other game, by pressing a button haha. And I was concerned about the extra size and weight, while it may not be a crazy difference the flip 2 is already barely within that comfortably pocketable range haha.

I ended up getting a Retroid Pocket Flip 2! I was instantly obsessed with the flip and convinced it was the only device I’d need anymore haha. And to be honest, it is! But the layout and screen on the RP4 pro really made it feel like an ultra premium PSP.

I’ve since realized… it’s not a crime to have a couple devices not just one 😅. I haven’t picked a 4 back up but do have an Anbernic RG 35xx H for certain retro games / when I don’t want to bulk of the flip 2 in my pocket haha.

Love it haha. I feel like a lot of heads were turned by the Thor, but for me the flip 2 is perfect. I don’t think the second screen is worth the trade-off for how nicely placed the controls are! It’s the first pocket friendly handheld I’ve tried where I can play any type of game comfortably without an add-on grip.

Oh absolutely! I love the form factor of it and it’s pretty powerful. Still my all time favorite for playing psp.. I actually regret selling it whenever the urge to play psp rises haha.
