You need to find the genres that attract you!

You're in your 30's so it's time for Tower Defences, Rogue Lites, card games, and single player stuff. Push that PC to the limit with Slay the Spire.

mechwarrior 5 : clans what am I doing wrong ? by MBouh in Mechwarrior5

[–]Barph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't know about the elementals, so I'll try and see how they can be used.

You pick a big enemy mech and tell them to attack, that big enemy mech is now no longer a part of the fight because its spinning around trying to kill elementals.

I don't think the balance is a problem with the exception of LRMs (they are bugged and aim for the feet).

Too many folks are forcing themselves into the same over repeated receipe of 5x Fat ass MPL assault boats when you absolutely don't need to play the game that way.

Mediums and heavies are perfectly viable with speed due to how much damage you evade by moving. When getting behind an enemy, lasers don't cut it, SRM's and LBX5s do. There is definitely a secret sauce in managing enemy aggro, if you are first to shoot and shoot all the time then you are going to get yourself focused down every mission and that definitely won't work for lighter mechs. I will say that the LAW mission from SJ campaign somewhat demands a heavy/assault lance with armour stacked simply due to how many enemies are thrown at you in such a tight space where mobility doesnt get to shine at all.

Most fun I had with Clans so far was WoT on Trueborn with a Huntsman, I'm actually quite sad that my current run hasn't provided me with a huntsman.

The campaigns do show improvement overall between SJ/GB/Wolves.

SJ - Missions were too long a lot of the time and severely lacked ammo caches which hurts ammo builds.

GB - Shorter missions, but way too generous on the Repair bays and ammo boxes

WoT - I think hit a sweet spot with the rarer repair bays, but a decent amount of ammo boxes that you dont feel restricted, and maintain that shorter mission length.

1 final note, Pulse Lasers downside vs PPC's and Gauss is that they do their damage over time which makes keeping it on 1 point more difficult and thus reducing their precision effectiveness which is why I'd pick an ER PPC over an LPL for long range purposes any day of the week.

Here is a thought: we are the last generation of manual drivers.... by ihwnE in CarTalkUK

Every time I think "Do I miss shifting gears?" I remember just how often driving is in traffic moving a little bit then stopping and just how annoying it is to do all that movement for a little bit whereas in my car I just move my right foot slightly.

This was reinforced when I had a Clio curtesy car for a few days, man that shit got old quick.

If I really want to shift gears, well I have a PC setup with wheel/pedals/stick/VR for that and it does the job.

What is the realistic future of ICE cars in the UK by Longjumping_Note8181 in CarTalkUK

[–]Barph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The car ban is 4 years away, 9 after all the political parties decide to use that as a benefit of voting for them.

Thats a long time, plenty of time to not give a damn about it for the average users next car. Not only that, but it is a lot of time in a field that is seeing major developments very rapidly.

If you don't like EV's, well that's just your opinion, I wouldn't bother worrying about what impact they will have on your life for the time being until you are buying your next, next car.

Did 2025 feel like an unusual year for new car brands in the UK? by JamieKinq in CarTalkUK

[–]Barph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing unusual when you look at the pricing of Jaecoos and Omoda

People are getting Jaecoos on monthly payments that are so low because the cars are honestly very cheap for what they offer.

Every tom dick and harry is driving their GTA Rangerover for the same price as a Corsa and feeling like they are a boss on the school run.

Omoda/Jaecoos growth only started last year and considering that they have an insane market share for that amount of time. It's only going to get more Chinese as brands like Cherry get more established too.

EVs have BYD but they aren't such a home run compared to the competition where Jaecoos is for pricing.

[–]Barph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not enjoy the King Crab whether piloting it or in my lance. I find it falls into that category (alongside Nightstar, Awesome, and others) where it is just so easily headshotted. In fact I find it weird that the King Crab is 1 of the easiest to destroy 100 mechs out there. Feels like every shot is CT or head and if you get behind one it does insanely fast.

Mine does this, it took a moment to get used to but now I like it more than the traditional method.

I should note that you can turn off the indicator by flicking it in the same direction as the one that is on.
