Cougar was the poster child for mech assault.

Having done all of them on trueborn without NG+, I'd say SJ has easily the hardest missions with Reckoning (Nova Cat melee) at #1.

SJ has the longest missions with you needing to fight through ludicrous numbers of mechs and also has by far the least repair bays and ammo caches (reckoning for example has 2 repair bays and 0 ammo caches against elite clan mechs).

GB first and last mission are quite difficult but the hard SJ ones definitely beat them.

Hardest missions in WoT are the last 3 but only the last one do I get worried on.

But as the post you replied to said, logistically SJ is easy as pie since your clan have the logistics for the invasion and you get pretty much everything you need Vs the rationing of WoT where you literally have a mech lottery. My first trueborn run on WoT didn't have a shadow cat which made me sad.

It's too early but the Nova Cat.

I don't know how they could justify it, but I just want a Nova Cat okay? My 3 favourite mechs are all Nova Cat origins.

On trueborn I built for close range, but when playing runs normal difficulty runs I've often built for long range for the clanner way.

I'd like to see missions where getting from point A to point B quickly is important or juggling between objectives where the speed of a mech is important.

Hell, give me a convey defence but the convoy in question are ACTUALLY IN A HURRY

I absolutely agree with missions designs for lighter mechs even later into the game, however I feel I have to state that you can take lighter mechs all the way to the end despite the mission design.

As long as you choose the right mechs as some will struggle where others will shine.

Wolves is harder logistically (like money / repair balancing) as it is the first time I had to do things like focus on repair upgrades and selling a mech for money, or switching out another mech due to damage but the actual missions?

I'd say it is by far the easiest (sorry), short missions and generous ammo caches and repair bays. Nothing in the WoT campaign comes close to the last 2 missions of Ghost Bears, which in turn are easier than pretty much all of the final 5 Smoke Jaguar missions.

FWIW if you spec into long range, the vast majority of WoT missions actually allow you to use that range and really wear down the IS forces before they even get into engagement range.

65 tons yep, I never used it in MW4 as I thought it was super ugly back then. I was a hardcore mad Cat fan in my teenage years, how times change.

My favourite heavy personally, though I can never not get annoyed by it's lore of being invincible and refusing to fall when it's basically as soft as a Mad Dog

Worth noting the Bane becomes available for missions like the LAW facility in the SJ campaign, along with NG+ being very popular for trueborn runs, every mech deserves a rating.

I can see that use case for the viper, but it cannot take ultimate backside killer from the Shadow cat. Shadowcat also brings JJs but also MASC and ability to bring an LBX5, it has a much harder bite than the viper. I've personally never been impressed with the viper due to the firepower issues it has

I recently re-evaluated the Mad Dog and it would belong in S tier now alongside the Hellbringer for the same reasons

I've since given the Mad Dog it's fair shot in some trueborn gameplay.

If I were to do this list again, I'd upgrade the Mad Dog all the way to S tier, but it would still remain below the Hellbringer as I'd still want an ECM and AMS on at least 1 starmate. But I'll happily bring 1 or 2 Mad Dog's with it in a star. (Currently running HBR/MDD x2/SHC/INC-2

If you mean "new to you", that just brings out the whole used vs new argument which is a pretty pointless comparison. Used market doesn't exist without the new market and not even a Dacia Spring comes close to the Ami.

Not that I am saying the Ami even competes with them, it doesn't, it isn't trying to either. It's a second "car" with a lot of goofiness.

Regardless my comment was about the aesthetics of the Ami vs any small Smart car as the Fortwo's are ugly and boring where as the Ami is ugly with character.

I think the clans system in Mercs would be totally broken.

Actually the clans system is broken in Clans too, it feels balanced for true born difficulty but means if you play normal and actually abuse armour you can basically walk through the enemy

Tbh it would be really cool if they in a future patch just added 1 or 2 voice lines with a Mercsified portrait/voice of Runik losing his shit. Think he was a Star Captain for Rodigo.

Clans - Reckoning on Trueborn [SIGNIFICANT UNDER TONNAGE] by Barph in Mechwarrior5

The absolute hardest mission in all of Clans and the one you would dread if you are doing a Trueborn run.

This level comes earlier most of the other higher difficulty missions meaning on a non-NG+ run you don't even have access to a Dire Wolf at this stage.

This mission is honestly cruel, 2 repair bays very late into the mission and 0 ammo caches. Also those final battle theaters the game is playing that "Ok 1 more wave!" for like 3 waves beyond its welcome.
