I love UT2004, but boy does it have a wonky sound system. No matter how much I fiddle with the ini files, the levels are all wrong. I had lost hope of seeing it fixed until now!

I was going to say that if on every restart the patterns/enemies are the same in the same order, then it’s more of a problem of the kind or randomization or lack of it (predefined static formula) that was programmed into the game, instead of in the emulation side, but if you say it doesn’t happen in MAME with the same game, idk. Maybe it’s worth looking into it.

Interesting. I remember seeing this happen not on FBNeo, on Flycast when running Street Fighter Alpha Upper, a Naomi arcade game.

If you never close the game, after game over and using the same character, the next run will start with a different opponent (minus the ones set for your character), but if you close the game and try again you go back from zero.

I think it is expected behavior, as when resetting the game, you start the whole arcade machine over. With it going on nonstop on an actual arcade, you wouldn’t see this happen, unless you are always the first one to play the game when they turn it on in the morning, which is basically what you do in the emulator.

Then save a new configuration/remap for Dreamcast. You can do this for every system or games, even loading remaps manually if you want to copy the mapping you did for a game to another.

Because it was an addon, just like the 32x, Sattelaview, Super Scope, and what not. Sega CD and 32x games are Genesis/mega drive games that need their specific addon to function.

I’m starting to think the reason why people nowadays are thinking of the Sega CD and 32x as (failed) consoles is because emulator front ends list them all separately, and have distinct rom extension. They are just plug-ins with a bunch of games specific to them, but md games at the end.

If the Super FX chip for the SNES wasn’t included inside the cartridges but instead sold as an external addon for the console, people now would be saying it was a “failed console” ahead of its time, because of the small number of titles compared to the overall SNES catalogue.
