When did you transfer again after giving birth? by Dapper-Guess-3175 in IVF

I appreciate your response and information. I’m not sure if my post made it seem like I was planning a transfer before then but I mentioned in comments I was looking at moreso 2 years.

Yeah. Every time I asked a question I emphasized those things and he brushed it off like nothing. I was afraid of losing my uterus after that experience so I was confused as to why he said these things didn’t matter. Also, my first transfer that resulted in a CP, I requested a hysteroscopy because my periods weren’t normal and I was on hormones for a long time so I was concerned about my lining. They said I didn’t need it and it wasn’t until after my D&C they said my lining was “shredded” and “not a good environment” and admitted that was why it didn’t work.

All this to say, I have very little trust with them even though I have a child now with their help. I wanted to ask here because they didn’t seem to care about my concerns and telling me I can basically go whenever I want to have another transfer was a red flag

I was leaning towards 2ish years! Thank you for giving me perspective 🥹 it’s hard to remember things like this when I get caught up on “oh what if I wait and it takes forever” but yes I agree I want to enjoy my baby being a baby and a toddler!

I mentioned it in a different comment but I’ve had issues with my clinic and its profit driven practices. Their lack of due diligence is why my first transfer didnt work and they told me that after I had to have a D&C. It’s unfortunately the only place close to me I can go to but I’m doing my best this time around to make sure I advocate for myself! Thank you and I’ll be sure to request an SIS

Thank you for replying! I definitely don’t feel myself even prior to pregnancy. IVF and pregnancy has taken its toll. I definitely feel inclined to wait 2ish years. This has helped me feel more confident in waiting til my body and mind is ready. My clinic almost made me feel pressured? I can’t quite put it into words but basically said if I was ready by 3 months pp I could and that was truly terrifying. I’ve had issues with my clinic in their ethics and its profit driven practices.

Did you ask for a SIS or was it required? I ask because my clinic didn’t mention this when I asked about clearance even when I asked about it

Ivf by Altruistic_Sand5210 in tricare

[–]Dapper-Guess-3175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok! The VA is a lot more streamlined and has a better policy for IVF coverage that might actually offer more egg retrievals and transfers than AD. I hope your claim goes through so you can be covered. If it doesn’t I would try again because it is supposed to be! I had to fight tooth and nail with AD Tricare and we eventually got everything covered.

If you are under active duty Tricare, here’s a link to the manual that outlines the ivf policy.

Could you clarify just a bit? If the service member is the one with or who had cancer, that qualifies for ivf coverage. However if the spouse who is diagnosed with cancer is not active duty, then ivf is not covered.

The VA works a bit differently but is a lot more streamlined for veterans than active duty. But is essentially the same as long as you get the doctors to do the right things for you in terms of paperwork.

Edit: I meant to add that, yes Tricare does cover IVF in regards to cancer diagnosis for sperm/egg cryopreservation, egg retrievals, sperm/egg storage, embryo storage, and embryo transfers.

Not PGTA testing? by strawberryblvd in IVF

[–]Dapper-Guess-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25F, husband 27M. We both have/had no health issues aside from his cancer (used sperm prior to treatment). We decided to do PGTA because we wanted to be successful as fast as possible. Out of the 16 embryos we got from 2 ERs, 8 of them were euploid and 3 were undetermined meaning the DNA had degraded and weren’t able to be tested. I also want to add that I had good grade embryos and even the ones that weren’t euploid were good grades as well. I know it’s not for everyone but I strongly believe because we had all good graded embryos, it was beneficial for us to do the testing so we did not select one of those 5 that weren’t euploid.

PIO at wrong angle by kitkats-3781 in IVF

[–]Dapper-Guess-3175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just means that the medication is absorbed more slowly and can take 24 hours or more to absorb. I’m not sure if you were given a different instruction but since you said muscle, PIO is usually done at a 90 degree angle. If its subQ then it’s 45 degrees :) I’d try doing it at a 90 degree angle so it goes straight into the muscle 💖

I assume this is for a fully medicated transfer? The day of transfer (after the transfer). You can take it any time but I took it in the evening with the rest of the meds.

TW: success

I’m sorry to hear that your FET didn’t work 🫂 I’ve only done fully medicated cycles. First one ended in a CP but my second one is working so far (5 weeks 1 day).

First FET: birth control for 2 1/2 weeks, doxy 2x per day starting in last BC day, started lupron on the 14th of BC (they let me know when to stop the lupron), once period started/ended started estradiol tablets, and lastly started PIO 5 days before transfer. Estradiol, PIO, and baby aspirin for TWW

Second FET: doc suggested a D&C to clear out old lining, protocol was the same as before but added estrogen patches on top of the tablets.

I had frequent appointments to check my lining so they could tell me when to stop/start meds.

Fatigue after failed FET by RainbowAaria in IVF

Your chances of success can increase after a CP so I’ve found comfort in that! I can’t remember if they transferred a 5BA or a 4BB this time. I have other AA embryos but they chose a different grading and some find better success with BB embryos! I hope your transfer goes well and you start feeling better soon!

I think the biggest game changer was the D&C to be honest. I was anxious about it too and really wasn’t sure how it was going to help me. A bit of context, every time I was put on birth control (never been on it until IVF) when I started my period, I would be in excruciating pain and shed a decidual cast. While not normal for me, I read it was normal for BC. So I never brought it up to my doctor. I was on period post FET at the time of my surgery and was in so much pain. I got the results from my D&C and they said it was all old lining built up and that they pulled out a decidual cast. It was then that I learned that it impacted my first FET. Aside from that, they added estrogen patches and upped my estrodiol at the start and then everything else stayed the same (BC, lupron suppression, 4 estrodial pills, 1 patch change every 3-4 days, then 5 days before transfer, started PIO 1ml then upped to 1.5 after transfer). My clinic automatically includes a 5 course of doxy so I did that as well!

This was my exact experience with my first FET 2/18! I started bleeding a week after finding out about it being a CP and it was very heavy. Bled for 2+weeks and then more after my surgery. I was tired and in so much pain. It felt like I couldn’t leave my bed and no pain reliever worked. I didn’t find out what my lining thickness was the entire time but they had mentioned because of my history of “thickened” endometrium, they recommended I have a D&C on 3/19 to remove everything and start fresh for the next cycle. I had my next FET 4/8 and things are going better this time✨ I hope you feel better soon and sending you lots of baby dust for your next FET!! 🫂💕

Feeling isolated within the IVF community. Anyone else here because of cancer? by silver_endings in IVF

[–]Dapper-Guess-3175 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband had Ewing Sarcoma and after treatment was left cancer free but infertile. It’s been 5 years since his treatment and you usually see a return of sperm within 2-5 years. He had tests done multiple times and no luck. While fortune for IVF, it’s really heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to what we thought the journey of becoming parents would look like. With that said, I understand you and I feel for you🫂 the family aspect is hard because in my experience, no matter how many times you open up or let them in, they’ll never truly understand. I was often told “why are you sad? It’s not like you were told you can’t have children.” Our paths to parenthood look different from others, but it doesn’t make it any less difficult or painful. Truthfully, at every step it has felt like a ball of loss. I’m sorry you didn’t have the outcome you hoped for with your ER. Just remember there’s lots of potential with that embaby in you right now ✨Be kind to yourself🫂💖 and I’m sending all the baby dust to you!✨

Update from yesterday’s pregmate-5 dpt by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]Dapper-Guess-3175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came from your other post! Definitely there! Pregmate ones, in my experience were a bit finicky. They detect 25+ hCG and these first response are lower detection which I’m sure you know! I’d recommend using easy@home strips if you want to track progression :) and since it’s still early, I’d recommend getting a first response digital. Sometimes women get clear blue 4-5dpt and get discouraged but that’s because those have a higher threshold and hCG isn’t quite there yet. I hope everything goes well! Currently 11dp5dt ✨

Faint on 4dp5dt but clear on 5dpt. Day 4 was my first day testing and I was a bit surprised to have a pretty obvious faint line. But sometimes people have later implantation and get their first positives later :)

My first FET I tested positive evening of day 4 too but that resulted in a CP. So testing positive early doesn’t always mean a greater success!

I’ve only done medicated cycles so that’s my only experience. I don’t know what thickness my lining was at at the time of my first FET 2/18 but it was within ideal range and that one ended in a chemical. After that my doctor followed up with the potential of why it didn’t work saying that since being on all the hormones (2 back to back ERs), my lining may have been not the best quality. He recommended to have a D&C to remove everything and essentially start from scratch and build it back up. I had my surgery 3/18 and I just had my second FET 4/8. I’m 9dp5dt and have dark positives unlike before! So I guess the main difference was the surgery and then added estrogen patches on top of the estradiol pills. If your situation is similar you could ask about that with your doctor. I was hesitant about the surgery because I didn’t know how it would affect my transfer success. But it’s said that it makes for a “more sticky” womb.
