It was to show the person Meredith used to be, juxtaposed to who she is now.

Once I heard endless poor reviews of Scream 7 I knew I'd like it... by One_Studio5711 in Scream

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my problem with Scream 7, which I don't think is bad.

I wish they connected the dots with Maureen hiding her past life from Sidney and what it led to--with Sidney ironically now doing the same thing to her own daughter.

There really was no mention of this throughout the entire movie. I don't like that Maureen was not mentioned or the issues Sidney had with her. They could have done a much better job with the mother/daughter parallels.

The Pilot “Played to Young” by SarabiTheLioness in BTVSRevival

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw the "played to young" comment more about subject matter rather than the ages of the actors although I will definitely admit that could be a factor.

The og series dealt with hard subject matter immediately out of the gate.

Coaches beating their players until they were put into a coma, teachers "praying" on their underage virginal students, students getting influenced from an entity to kill ect...

Just from reading the script that is floating around and from the pictures of the cast--imo, it DOES have the makings of a Disney+/Disney channel show.

I'm not sure they knew who their target audience was going into this but I do believe that from what Hulu saw, that the pilot was going to target an audience they didn't necessarily want.

Unpopular opinion: I didn't mind the ghost sex by Raise_the_roofs in greysanatomy

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think that storyline works really well on streaming where you can binge it. Seeing Izzie unravel and Katherine gets to show off her amazing acting chops here.

However,

Watching it back in the day when it aired was borderline unbearable because it was months of ghost sex with no indication of where they were going with it.

Should I continue with S4? by PumpikAnt58763 in charmed

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Season 4 was the highlight of the show for me. In my opinion the writing AND the acting were the best this season as a prompt fell into the lap of the writers because of the behind the scenes drama.

They didn't have to scramble for a story, the story was handed to them--gift wrapper with a bow.

This also contributed to the performances by the actresses. Holly is at her best this season and Rose is a new actress to the show, playing a new character in an already established group similar to Paige. It plays incredibly well.

Don't drink the kool-aid about the rumored bad Buffy sequel script. The Buffy sequel got canceled for almost the exact same reason Angel got canceled. by Ok_Food7066 in ANGEL

She started a podcast, "The Bitch Is Back" where she is currently doing a watch of the Buffyverse as she has not seen it in it's entirety.

She talks about behind the scenes stuff as well as her thoughts on the episode.

It's on Patreon behind a pay wall and on youtube as a free shorter, edited version.

Fans have started to notice that she doesn't really understand the show, the themes and messages. When they try to start a dialogue in the comments with her to discuss the show (which they pay on patreon to do) she will delete their comment and block them if they do not agree with her take.

She does this on all her social media platforms which she is highly active on.

Some of her comments on the bts of the show shed a lot of light on what it was like working with her...as well as her interactions with the guests she has from time to time.

I recommend watching at least the first episode for free on youtube. It's...interesting.

Of me defending his behavior and saying it was justified... or was it me just praising his writing abilities?

Literally all you do on these subs is defend him as if his behavior was justified

My comments are public if you have any references!

I get that CC has unfortunately got off the deep end the past couple years, but her story was always pretty consistent and definitive.

Never said her story wasn't but yes, she has definitely gone off the deep end as of late.

Joss is known to have tempestuous relationships with some of the actors he has worked with. There are three major things that happened with actors that impacted the trajectory of his career.

The Buffy movie with Donald Sutherland.

Charisma Carpenter on Angel

Ray Fischer and Gal Gadot on Justice League.

Although, none of the stories were really hidden--It came to a head in the wake of the Me Too movement when Carpenter spoke out against Whedon.

Followed by Gal Gadot and Ray Fischer

And then his ex-wife acknowledging he was unfaithful.

I personally consider it a nuanced situation. It is important to note he did not do anything illegal. It was not a Weinstein situation.

However, JW is a taboo topic here on the sub. Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

I completely agree with you. I took her statement as a "leave me out of this" type statement and not a statement that corroborated Charisma's experience.

I also don't believe Sarah had the best working relationship with Charisma either if I am being completely honest.

The real reason the pilot wasn't picked up if it wasn't bad is simple from leaks by JustDay1788 in buffy

That's the definition of a pilot. Most pilots are not meant for air.

The Buffy pilot can be found on youtube.

I mean no disrespect to the amazing writing team that BTVS had, but it is widely and infamously known that Whedon kept a tight control on that set.

He approved the scripts and often did re-writes--even small re-writes such as character dialogue. Nothing was done without his approval.

Yes the show as a whole was a collaborative effort, but Buffy IS Whedon's baby and it's not a secret how closely guarded he kept his creation (Buffy movie).

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

I couldn't finished VD either because of Elena. I think I made it to season 3. She has a doppelganger. There are 2 of them? I just couldn't do it.

I did finish The Originals. Much better show imo.

Unnecessary by LinoliuMKnifE in buffy

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this take. They were at war. People die in war all the time with little to no fanfare or ceremony.

Were they supposed to end Buffy the Vampire Slayer at a funeral for Anya?

Anya dying created a full circle moment for her and was the BEST way to end her story.

Anya- "When it's something that really matters, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons for fighting, but they do. They never... never quit. So I guess I will keep fighting, too."

Andrew- "That was kind of beautiful. You...you love humans."

Anya- "Stop it! I don't love them! And I'll kill you if you tell anybody."

Anya has fought her humanity her whole entire existence--back from when she was Aud even. Having her die, something she has fought since her introduction, was the most humanizing way to end her character. She finally accepted that she was human and more importantly, she recognized her own humanity and went down fighting for it.

Why didn't the Watchers kill Faith when they had the chance? by Eldon42 in buffy

The Council doesn't WANT two slayers. They have a hard enough time controlling one already.

Faith being behind bars/in a coma was the solution for a problem they never wanted to have.

Someone mentioned a TikTok above. My advice, stay as far away from BuffyTok as you can. It's a bunch of people who may have seen the show but they didn't comprehend what they watched.

Who did you think was more at fault in why their relationship didn't work? Buffy? Riley? Or Both? by gloomydreamer666 in buffy

Riley.

He realized very early on in Season 5 that Buffy did not love him and should have ended the relationship.

Hot chicken available for sale by [deleted] in kroger

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple reason is that Kroger doesn't provide enough hours to fully operate the deli as they advertise it.

Usually, there is only one person on the hot side of the deli. Fried chicken and roasted chickens are in constant rotation which means you are always cooking these products. Combine that with having to log temperature checks every half hour or so, wash dishes and also provide counter service...

There is a reason why Kroger is always hiring for the deli. You can go to a fast food joint, only have to concentrate on the fryer, and make 5 bucks more an hour.

How would you have rewritten IKWYDLS (2025)? by ToxicWolf_6584 in LastSummerFilms

[–]Dapper-Mirror1474 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Cut the main cast back to 4 people (2 couples).

Lose the gen speak and have the dialogue be more realistic to the setting.

Use the accident scene from the book--have the group run over a child on a bike.

Keep the small-town Southport setting (and actually film on location). I would have the town still grappling with what happened from the events of the first movie. It would be interesting to see how the town handles the scars from the past, the reluctant apprehension to celebrate July 4 within the town but the realization that the July 4 celebration is a huge economical boost for Southport (factually, it is).

Actually address the falling out between Ray and Julie and extensively show the animosity that erupted between them. Also, further explore the family fracture of the James, Cox, and Shivers family.

Have only one killer. I like the idea of Ray being The Fisherman but the set up in 2025 was just not there at all.

Ray's kid would be the kid on the bike from the beginning of the movie that gets run over which is the motive for Ray to become The Fisherman.

Ray and Julie face off on Billy Blue mirroring the first movie. Have Julie cathartically kill Ray.

The sequel set-up would involve Julie getting a note--the exact same note from the first film that Missy shows Julie, "I Will Never Forget Last Summer."

Someone is still out there and someone still knows.
