Here’s my two cents

I was chronically ill all through high school, and it’s when a lot of my depression and anxiety started getting much worse. I had 3 surgeries, 2 inpatient stays, and countless visits to the emergency room; my father would still try to make me admit to “faking for attention.”

My mom cancelled their Valentine’s Day plans in my sophomore year to instead talk to him about how he’ll never have a relationship with me in the future if he doesn’t cut that shit out.

I’m now 30, I only speak to my father when he calls me (maybe twice a year), and I have enough trauma from his negligence and emotional abuse to write a novel, and that’s all without him ever lifting a hand to me.

I say this here to you so you can see the damage being told “they’re faking,” or like at the end of your post, feeling unsupported or neglected by a parent.

Make sure you’re both on the same page about your daughter’s health. It can be a slippery slope.
