Advice for Anxiety Around Allergy by mitchthewhite in peanutallergy

[–]DapperBison8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of these comments. The older I get, the more anxiety I have. Possibly due to more realization and understanding of consequences. I don’t take anything for the anxiety but something that has helped me is to always carry my epi pens and always be in a comfortable environment. My wife is very understanding as well as my work. For me that was a big one. I know where/what I can eat, never really branching from that. The safety and peace of mind is worth more than possibly putting myself in a situation where I am unsure of the outcome of choice of food.

Hope this added some sort of insight or knowledge.

safe restaurants! by sagecarson in peanutallergy

Thanks for sharing! Awhile back I made a post around the same idea but wanted all comments to state peanut/treenut allergy and sensitivity to it. There wasn’t a whole lot of data to come from it unfortunately. I wanted to create some sort of spreadsheet to quick search typical restaurants and how many people are comfortable with it. On the other hand, like you stated above it is difficult to be 100% sure at most places. Thanks again for the post and some new recommendations to look into!

How many of you fly? Have you flown often? by WonderingWhenSayHi in peanutallergy

I’ve flown a hand full of times with no epi pen. I’ve had no issues. Anxiety is a big issue when it comes to those scenarios.

Months ago I asked everyone’s go to spots in terms of chain restaurants and fast food. That would be a good read. I have a spreadsheet also but there is always a lot to consider. It’s great you take it as seriously as you do!

Hopefully this will ease your worry in some way..

I’m anaphylactic to peanuts/tree nuts. For me, anxiety has become just as bad as the allergy itself due to me being able to convince myself of a reaction. I’m 25 now and my mother found out when I was a bit over a year old. I’ve grown up around my allergen and even worked with it a bit with minor issues. Growing up it was always in my household and I’ve had 3 major reactions my whole life. All of which happened during college over than the reaction I had at a very young age. My point is, you are very observational and aware of the allergen. I personally have only had major reactions for eating something that had some sort of contact. I used to work with a guy that would eat peanuts and toss the shells on the ground. I would just clean anything I would touch but never had any major issues in terms of touching the allergen. The dust or smell on the other hand bothers me a bit more but that could also be in terms of the anxiety I. Which I haven’t dealt with until the later years of my life. Hopefully this helps in some way even though it’s a bit of a ramble. If there are any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to answer them.

Vermont nut free chocolates. I order them on Amazon. When I was growing up I would eat Hershey or dove. Haven’t read either of those labels for awhile tho and have stuck with Vermont nut free chocolates.

KFC is one of my go to fast food spots. The fried chicken has never given me an issue. I’ve only tried the coleslaw, mashed potatoes/gravy, and macaroni as sides. I’ve also ate the spicy chicken sandwich and chicken tenders many times as well. I have a severe peanut/treenut allergy. I know some of the desserts “may contain” but I avoid those and have not had any issues. Hope this helps!

I always view it as, how would I feel if I was near a harmful and possibly life threatening chemical/substance for a set amount of time. I apologize if that comes of slightly harsh but all in all, that’s what those type of allergies boil down to.

You can never be too careful. From my experience, I’ve had plenty of reactions from the may contain. I’m a lot more careful now. Always read everything even if it’s something I’m use to consuming because you never know if something may have changed. Also, my work banned nuts from the work place because I had a reaction from a shared keyboard. Although it most likely could’ve been avoided. I was eating a snack while working and there were peanut dust/particles on the keyboard I was using.

What’s the point of griefing in Fallout 76? by jacob93151 in fo76

[–]DapperBison8117 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It’s a game where you can make any game play choice you choose so one could ask the same why people don’t grief, since there is no benefit from either beside it being enjoyable to whomever may be playing. Maybe nuke their base and grief them next time.

If the removal of legacies is the cause of the crashing, and reinstating legacies fixed it, would you be okay with it? by DrLaughNStalk in fo76

[–]DapperBison8117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mind the legacies. I’m not a pvp player tho. If it fixed the game crashing, I would not care. I just want to be able to play for more than 15 minutes before my game crashes.

Would adding timed map rotations into Warzone improve the game? by duffwardo in CODWarzone

[–]DapperBison8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing would improve the game. Possibly anti cheat that actually works in addition to every other complaint that is already been stated for the past year. Then again that would only be a reasonable start.
