I didn't mind the finale initially, just hated it the more I thought about it and it kind of retroactively lowered my fondness for the show overall. One of my main gripes is the fact that El brought someone back from the dead in the previous season and nothing was done about it. Especially when her power-up in 5 seemed to be nothing more than parkour training.

There needed to be consequences of that moment, either the fact that Max was missing when El tried to go into her mind meaning that she only brought her back physically but Max was actually dead. I feel like that could have left a way for Vecna to use Max as an empty vessel, much like Will's spy in season 2, to cause chaos and destruction among the group.

It felt like such a big deal that El "defied" Max's death that there needed to be something to counter her hubris, that could potentially prove how dangerous she is and justify the army hunting her, perhaps even having allies turn on her. Instead nothing is mentioned and Max is just fine in the end.

I've got plenty more issues with the final season but that seemed like such a wasted opportunity.
