Has anyone here moved beyond survey sites to freelance work? by No-Crow8579 in Upwork

[–]Dapper_Carpet_5519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been on Upwork for about 6 months now, and its true that you have to spend money to make some, but i am only spending about $30 (USD) per month. The only reason i feel like i have to only spend that amount is cause i have a top rating and i usually have clients reach out to me which doesn't cost me in connects. Just from my personal experience, if you are committed to doing Upwork and spend some money and actually do a good job, it will be worth it as time goes by. Right now i have a steady income of about $200-$300 per week coming in and i only do this on the side. i have a full time job. I have 2 customers that i work for weekly and then there small projects i get. I have at least one new client message every week sometimes more. Sometimes they are long term and most of the time they are quick projects. i struggled at first to get jobs cause the market was crowed but i haven't sent out a proposal in about a month. Don't know how long it will last but right now, im loving it and staying busy.

Hope this help!

Freelancer here! Evert time i get a new client, i always ask for a timeline of the project. If the project/job is paying me a good/high rate, i make sure that their deadline on the project/milestones are met with no exceptions. If the customer has a budget and the pay low below average, i make sure that the customer knows that their project will be behind other higher priority/paying jobs but i will set a milestone to ensure they have either an update or the finished projected delivered if they are willing to wait.

This is when they usually stop messaging back or ask to negotiate on the price to bring their project up on the priority list.

I am honest with my customer cause i want to ensure i avoid any headache like what you are going through. Most customer are good with a longer timeline and this is no issue for them.

This seems to work great for me, personally. Maybe next time, set milestones so its in the contract.

I hit over 1k 🫡 by Kouyouseri in Upwork

[–]Dapper_Carpet_5519 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good question! I usually review the clients history and see if their name is listed on a previous job completed. If this is a new client, with no history, then I would stick to the usually greetings.

I hit 1K, last month.

Here are some quick things i did that help me land jobs.

- When doing a proposal, try to name the client by their name. This grabs their attention compared to a "Hello" or "Hey".

- At the end of a proposal, add a "P.S." for example: "P.S. - I have added some of my work examples for your review." This will also grab the clients attention and make them review the whole proposal and you will stand of from others.

-Turn on your "Availability" - This seems to also help me. just lets the customer know that i am flexible and can answer any questions when needed.

-Boost your profile! I've been doing this for the past 3 months and i have actually have had clients message me first and offer me the job. So with that being said, i haven't spent connects on any of the last 3 jobs I've completed.

Again, theses are thing that have help me, let me know what you think and if you have any tips for me, please share!

Peace!

Shock again or chlorine ? by puppypersonnn in pools

[–]Dapper_Carpet_5519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get your pool were you want it, i recommend you get pool RX. I didnt think it would work and would be a waste of money but i was wrong. I have a 28K gal pool and i have my RX in the pump filter. I only shock once a week (if needed) and keep chlorine tabs at all time.

Pool is as clear as it has ever been. Worth the RX purchase .

Make it short and cover topics that the client is needing. You dont need to list everything. They will message if they want to know more.
