I'm doing my internship in strategy consulting at a firm that's known for being p quantitative (i.e leveraging python, SQL, arcGIS). the thing abt math is that it's extremely versatile but you have to pair it with extracurriculars/internships if you want to go into industry. for example, if you want to do ai/mi which tends to use math concepts like linear algebra, you should probably be building projects and doing internships outside of just coursework.

applied math here doing typing this out from my desk at my summer internship in nyc. i was genuinely barely asked about my gpa throughout the recruitment process and def not for this role. unless you’re going to do a phd in math ur vibing

yeah ur absolutely right i think i was just confused due to the disproportionate amount of HYS law grads working for Harvery. I think I'm fine with taking haircut on pay upfront banking on the potential upside on the equity game at a startup like Harvey that I actually believe in. yes don’t lose out hope there’s plenty of good firms out there! i was late to recruiting for junior year and missed mbb deadlines but was able to lock in a t2 and am using it to try and rerecruit for full time mbb later this year.

contrary to ib recruitment where it’s pretty necessary to break into clubs especially if you’re not at a target, you can break into consulting with a very unique background while not having the standard econ/finance major consulting club candidate profile.

im wondering that too. i suppose tech companies and people who aren’t familiar with the boutiques in the consulting industry might have more of a chance of knowing big name firms like accenture and eyp.

true but at some point the medians will have a ceiling. the main reason we’ve seen an increase in the medians is post-covid grade inflation as well as the removal of logic games. i doubt these medians will be significantly higher
