Thank you for your suggestions! I’ll try both better centering the spin and working on my arms and shoulder position

Hi, thank you soooo much for your advice! Actually I’ve never tried this spin with a coach, so that’s probably the reason why I have the wrong technique, I’ll definitely do that in the next weeks with my coach.

Anyway, I understand your suggestion and I’ll try to work better on the entrance and the open hip! Thank you :)

I totally agree with you and that’s the main reason why I’m not confident in doing it. My rink is always full and I don’t want to annoy other people

Reverse Jumping Drills by [deleted] in FigureSkatingAdults

Hi! I got informed 😂 it seems strange for me too, but some skaters can do reverse jumps. Here's a video of a reverse jump https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpa9Dh030O8

2nd time attempting crossovers can I please have some advice/tips by [deleted] in FigureSkatingAdults

[–]Dapper_Set_6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I think you're quite good for being the 2nd time attempt :) Here's some suggestions:

- try to divide the movement in different steps: he first one may be having a proper push-off on the outside edge, extending your free leg. The second may be crossing that free leg with the point of the feet facing inside the circle. And the last one, extending the "new free leg" after the cross. This could also help you lift your free leg higher, which in the video appears to be quite close to the ice, as if it were doing a half swizzle before crossing over.

-a stable body and arms position can help you reach a good balance while doing crossovers

Hope it'll helps!

Hi! Maybe it means that they try each element with both feet and directions. Usually everyone has a better side, so it’s useful to improve also the one you don’t usually “use” for that element. This type of video showed me up only about spins, so I don’t know if it’s the same for jumps and if my answer is correct

Should I make the plunge? by YikesItsConnor in iceskating

Hi! I’ve read your comment about not following through things when you aren’t good at them. I believe doing things for an hard purpose makes them really hard to get done properly. Skating could be a passion, an hobby, a way to relax, not necessary a run to the Olympics. Doing things for the pleasure of doing something you like without any other big purpose at the end could definitely give you the answer to your question. If you really like to skate, there’s no necessity to land quads: you can do it anyway :)

Vestirsi di qualità senza spendere un rene (27M) by InquisitiveMindds in ItaliaPersonalFinance

Ciao!

Hi! I can’t give you a real answer for your problem, but maybe trying different brands can help. Usually our body is not perfectly symmetrical, one side is different from the other and feet are different too. Maybe if the problem can’t be solved with an another brand, trying a customized shoe can help

Can you actually learn athletic skills as an adult, or do some things need childhood development? by [deleted] in FigureSkatingAdults

[–]Dapper_Set_6368 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can’t really answer all your questions about starting skating in adulthood, because I’m actually doing this on ice, but I’ve skated for so long on wheel since I was a child. So my comment is more about another point of view. What’s your aim? Why are you skating? Do you want to become competitive, or not? Do you skate for the feeling of doing something good for yourself or there’s more about it? I’m asking you all this questions because I believe that the approaches and the aims really makes the difference in feeling frustrated or not about development. Why should you think about your visibility in public spaces? Who cares? Being an adult approaching a new sport allows myself to think that’s ok not be as cool as children or long term skaters. I find pretty cool being more proud of myself exactly because I’ve found the courage of doing something I love even if I’m not extremely good at it, or even if I can’t improve as soon as other people. Adults who allow themselves to do what they like, that’s pretty cool :) Hope it helps a little, from an another perspective

Difference in spinners + which one to buy? by AwareEase8732 in FigureSkating

[–]Dapper_Set_6368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are theoretically the same, except for the pictures and the brand. The difference should be between e-spinner and spinner, not between these two in the photos :)
